mornin kids I watch Charmed almost every day. It's kinda hoakie most times but it's a cute show I like the episodes after Shannon Doherty left Don't misunderstand me.....I LOVE Charmed. I own the whole series. Just poking a little fun at people who think it's real.  haha yeah some people base their lives on what they learn on TV I liked the movie Practical Magic. that was a cute and funny witch movie Practical Magic is my favorite movie. I've watched it at least 50 times. |

No problem. Feel free to ask any questions or post any thoughts. I'm not even to the point where I can ask sensible questions yet. But from less than an hour of reading, it seems like Wicca/Witchcraft is one of the most sensible, pragmatic and tolerant "religions" around.

Well, it is true that it is a very tolerant belief system and you won't find Wiccans or Witches trying to recruit people or trying to convince anyone of their beliefs. However, anywhere you have people you have disagreement, intolerance and rudeness. The Pagan community is no different. But, overall it's a good group of people.

Well, it is true that it is a very tolerant belief system and you won't find Wiccans or Witches trying to recruit people or trying to convince anyone of their beliefs. However, anywhere you have people you have disagreement, intolerance and rudeness. The Pagan community is no different. But, overall it's a good group of people. It is unfortunate that religions are often judged solely by the actions of the people who claim to subscribe to them, instead of on the workability and applicability of their tenets. One of the most fundamental premises of virtually all religious is that man is not perfect. So judging a religion based on the imperfections of its adherents is totally useless at best, conceited at least and dangerously prejudicial at worst.

I did read The Mists of Avalon that was a pretty good treatment of the conflict between Paganism and Christianity Ive heard of that book but never read it. Many Christians will still not even concede to the notion that anything predated Christianity. Generally that belief is held within the fundamentalist community or that has been my experience. Its a more recurrent theme with those that are proponents of the "young earth" theory. |

it's a really good read
The old King Athur story but told by the Druid priestess Morgana (Arthur's sister) and Arthur's obligations to the old world (pre-Roman) Pagan religion and to the Christians who made him king and the conflict between the two and beyond that it's told really well with easy reading prose and interpersonal relationships between people to make it interesting but it IS still just a story. fun to read but not really signicficant beyond that |

it's a really good read The old King Athur story but told by the Druid priestess Morgana (Arthur's sister) and Athur's obligations to the old world (pre-Roman) Pagan religion and to the Christians who made him king and the conflict between the two Wow, sounds fantastic. I might have to see if I can get a used copy online. Did you see that film "Excalibur" Its older but kind of touches on some of those characters. Its the story of King Arthur and Camelot specifically though. There is a Merlin character who is arguably representative of Paganism and the transition that was happening. Good movie. |

the author of the Mists of Avalon is Marion Zimmer Bradley. It was so popular at one time I imagine most used book store will have a copy for a couple of dollars |

It was so popular at one time I imagine most used book store will have a copy for a couple of dollars Yeah thats it. It was really visually "creative" and their Armour was always shiny and pretty. It was definitely intended to be kind of a metaphor but its still pretty close to the origional theme of the King Arthur story.
