thats because most people dont cook them right,, need to boil em long enough,, add salt and butter,, then red eye gravy

Not to sound stupid, but what is red eye gravy?

After frying country-cured Ham or Bacon, while the pan is still hot, pour a little Coffee into the skillet... This is called "Raising the Gravy"...... It breaks all the yummy little tidbits loose, ....... spoon over Grits or split hot Biscuits.... eat with scrambled eggs.... Called a "stick to your ribs" breakfast.
bigsmile drool

noooooooooo thank you. coffee ill

but scrambled eggs biscuits and some country ham sounds good right now... with a big cup of hot cocoa. yum

before cooking country ham or fatback, you have to boil it a bit to take some of the salt out of it or its very overpowering. then fry it up.

See that is the kind of gravy I make and it is referred by some as White Gravy or Southern Gravy. That is the type of gravy I like with breakfast or on chicken fried steak or dip fried chicken strips in. And the only kind of gravy I will eat on my mashed potatoes. drool

I love southern food and cook it as often as possible.

I lived in South Georgia for 9years and my Grandmother taught me to cook when I was 15. Everyone loves my food.

If someone doesn't like grits it's only because they haven't had them cooked correctly.

Grits are simply ground corn... coarse corn meal.
Add a little cheese or a can of rotel tomatoes and see whatcha think.

kristy,, make sure i dont have any kinda back up before going for a point,, cause as brandy said,, grits is ground corn,, plain and simple,, nothing added or taken away,, even still has some of the skin on it,, just like corn meal,, or corn flour
