Discussion on another thread has prompted me to start this one. I would like an honest answer to the following question by those currently serving and those that have previous served in the military. It's my opinion that the majority of us joined the military out of patrotism towards our great country. Remember honest answers please. Why did you join the military?

I joined the military because I had no job and I was a big loser . Then I heard the media and the politicians talking about freedom , liberty , prosperity and I became a robot and started repeating every word they said . Damn i was a loser and I am still a loser . As a soldier I have to take orders to kill any innocent person as a robot and some people are calling me a robot which is true . I leave my wife , my family and go overseas just because one crazy politician ordered me to do so . I go everywhere like a little dog in a leash . i can not see what is right and wrong . They call this the life of a patriotic , a hero .........! .

We had a boy at Ft Benning in Infantry school that was bad to kiss arse and brown nose. One night we gave him a blanket party. After beating him with socks with bars of soap in them, we stuffed him in a metal wall locker and shoved it out a second story window! It broke his back and paralyzed him for life!
The Army threatened to prosecute the whole company but when no one would tell who did it (everyone did) they let it drop rather than try and prosecute all 150 of us! We just went on training!

I like how you are just gonna ignore my post about people with higher education joining the military.

Its a good thing we have those soldier fighting for us or we might have ended up communist. Then if you said anything like that about the government they would black bag you and you would never be heard from again.

He chose to ignore a lot of posts.
Guess he doesn't have the balls to address them same as he didn't have the balls to join the military.

I never found myself in actual combat.
So, No.
I am not a murderer.
I wouldn't consider all of the other Marines (including my brother)and military personnel "murderers" either.
They fight to protect our country. They fight to protect your rights. They fight to allow your a$$ to sit safely at home behind a computer and express your freedom of speech.

Now I have a question for you:
If the war is an issue for you and you consider those fighting the front lines "murderers", why don't you take their place?
I would love for you to go to Iraq with your flowers and love and see just how far you get.

WOW, simply put, WOW!

Brainwashed!

All the reasons we were sent to fight were not honorable!

Many times we were used and led astray by selfish politicians for their dishonorable reasons!

I needed the discipline.

...I wasn't a troublesome child...I just found myself working for Mc Donald’s and I didn't want to stay in that situation.
I knew I needed more.
Once I joined, it gave me and my ENTIRE family a great sense of pride.

They all needed the money , the benefits , and because they were useles in a civilian life .
Congratulations all . Please keep on lying to yourself and to all the world .

I DO BEG YOUR PARDON, BUT NONE OF OUR, USA'S, MILITARY WERE USELESS IN A CIVILIAN LIFE!!
