People talk about patriotism as if we are in kindergarten . reality is everyone for himself or herself . As a pacifist and non religious person , I answer only to logic and my conscience . I am free from the crap of bigotry , racism ,hatred , and I see things as they are .
Yes the truth hurts because this is a crazy world where people kill your family , take your belongings , make of you a refugee and they tell you and tell the whole world :"this is for freedom , liberty , and prosperity ". Sad enough , some people with no hearts support such politicians for many reasons : propaganda , lies , hatred , they are the others and not us ....etc . I find this very sad in 2008 .
My brothers and sisters the inhabitants of this planet let me down every time they support a tyrant , every time they do not talk the truth and the whole truth . soldiers are humans and have needs , they join the armed forces for their interests and has nothing to do with anything else .

Discussion on another thread has prompted me to start this one. I would like an honest answer to the following question by those currently serving and those that have previous served in the military. It's my opinion that the majority of us joined the military out of patrotism towards our great country. Remember honest answers please. Why did you join the military?

I joined the military because I had no job and I was a big loser . Then I heard the media and the politicians talking about freedom , liberty , prosperity and I became a robot and started repeating every word they said . Damn i was a loser and I am still a loser . As a soldier I have to take orders to kill any innocent person as a robot and some people are calling me a robot which is true . I leave my wife , my family and go overseas just because one crazy politician ordered me to do so . I go everywhere like a little dog in a leash . i can not see what is right and wrong . They call this the life of a patriotic , a hero .........! .

I like how you are just gonna ignore my post about people with higher education joining the military.

Its a good thing we have those soldier fighting for us or we might have ended up communist. Then if you said anything like that about the government they would black bag you and you would never be heard from again.

Have I once supported any politician on this thread or any other??? AHH that would be a HELL NO. Don't trust any of em that are in office further than my skinny arms could chunk em.
I support my brothers and sisters in the military for the job they do for us the citizens of this country. I doubt u'll find one Vet or current military member who'll say they joined simply cause they supported a politician.

It does not matter who you are : if you kill an
innocent person , you are a murderer . So in any unfair , unjust war , a soldier who participates is a murderer . He or she knows what is right and what is wrong ,and when he or she follows the orders to kill , then he or she is a murderer .
A murderer is not a hero , is not a patriotic ,he or she is a criminal according to all the universal laws . It does not matter if you are strong or weak . It does not matter if you are rich or poor . A murderer is a murderer by any name .

It takes a monster to attack the poorest , weakest and more vulnerable people just because they can not defend themselves .
It is like an elephant stepping on a new born baby . Anyone who supports such an action is less intelligent than a robot .Those who support such injustices would do worse if there are no laws to stop them . We are thankful we have laws around .

Sam I just looked at ur profile. Canadian A?? My maternal great grandmother was canadian, she lived here in the USA illegally with her husband and children. Never went back. Her daugher my grandmother was a canadian citizen but got a green card and stayed here in the USA to raise a family. She never went back to Canada. I wonder why????? Hmmmmmmmmmm could it be cause of people such as urself???
To think if my Great Grandparents hadn't snuck into the US I'd be a canadian right now. Thank goodness for big favors.

My feelings are that the men who serve are as much a victim as those we fight, after all its the common folk who do the fighting and dieing and carry the emotional and financial burden. I do not blame the GI you do what you are told you volunteerd but I would hope that they carry themselves in a military manner and do not rape 13 year old girls or slaughter innocents. and unlike this war in iraq I would hope any war we fight is worthy of there sacrafice

My nephew is in Mosul now! He got in thanks to the lowering of standards by the military desperate to find recruits. He was hooked on crack and his daddy, my brother, thought it was a good thing!
He joined the Infantry to be like his Uncle Fanta. When I tried to talk him out of it his daddy told me to not talk to him.

I can see when he comes home with PTSD. That was my objection all along, but no one would listen to common sense. There are many serving today in Iraq that when they come home will be a real hand full for this country! Trained killers with more reasons to use resulting in bigger addictions walking down the streets unemployed.
All so Bush wouldn't have to enacted the draft and face protests like those in Vietnam.
I mean I served and served proudly, but are we really doing the country justice by maintaining these brainwashed and blind attitudes supporting Bush and this fukked up aggressive action in Iraq.
Am I the only one that feels ashamed that we have a President who for the first time in our great military history has invaded another country unprovoked?

He is just bad mouthing our soldiers for no reason. Our soldiers are not attacking poor defenseless people. If we wanted to kill defenseless people we would have just bombed the hell out of the country and it would have been over years ago for a lot less money.

I am Canadian but the USA took us to Afghanistan to fight a futile war there . If it was not for the US , Canada would have never ever attacked Afghanistan . This is the price we pay to have a crazy and bully neighbour .laugh laugh laugh
