So everyone else on the planet is on "MySpace".
But I have been watching those 20/20, dateline shows with all those sex offenders that contact their subjects/prey on there. What do you think do you think about "MySpace"; think it is a good place to stay in touch and track people down that I haven't seen since childhood? Lantz |

Well, I think it's a good thing. I've found lots of long lost
friends...I think as far as sex offenders go, parents should be keeping a better eye on their children... |

I like Myspace, I use it to promote my band & keep in touch with old
friends, family & make new friends. Just like everywhere else on the internet, you just have to be careful & use common sense. |

I tried it, it was the biggest waste of time I've ever experienced, even
worse than those old "Facts of Life" reruns. I can't say anything about anyone other than the locals I dealt with on MySpace, but they were so shallow it's a wonder they didn't evaporate. |

myspace is decent.have not had any problems on there at all.

really, if you know how to take care of yourself,
it's fine. if it seems that you have a lot of friends, and that you aren't naive, they usually leave you alone. we can't stop people by force, just educate kids to keep themselves safe. also, don't let your eight year old get a myspace. there's an age limit for a reason. |

i have an account, and i've been contacted by people i haven't seen in
literally twenty years...kind of cool, for the most part. it's slow to load and that annoys me, but the benefits outweigh that. my daughters have accounts, but they are set to private and can only access them while i'm there, just in case. |

I have an account there but do not go there anymore. I got the
Quicktime virus from there, several other bugs and attackers hitting ports on my computer. TOO many hackers, bugbaggers, weirdos and creepos for my taste. I would not waste my time there and don't anymore. Verb |

verb that's what firewalls are for and don't rely on windows firewalls
lol I use software and hardware firewalls, as far a s the weirdos yes parents are mostly to blame for what happens in their childrens lives even on the internet, there is so much information out about what goes on, on the net and people knwo they need to monitor their childrens activities, it's cheaper to get a keylogging and screenshot program than to bury you're child. |

i'm going to reply on that...because it's kind of personal.
a lady i work with, her niece, who was twelve at the time...was in a christian chat room, talking to a guy who was nineteen. her father is the CHIEF OF POLICE!!! anyhow, the guy turned out to be from california, married with two children...he showed up, kidnapped her, tortured and raped her...they found them at a storage unit; before they could free her, he shot her and then himself. she was shackled to the inside of his van. |

Age limits mean something. If your kids aren't responsible enough for a
myspace acct. then don't let them have one. I have one myself and use it to meet new people and reunite with old friends. As for spammers and virus crap.it's not myspace doing it it's you're unprotected computer allowing it. |

I came here from MySpace! I was an addict...and I thought it was a
great site...if you can get past the drama and the viruses...and the constant porn pop ups on your computer. I finally left after two long years on the site...and have transformed to a JSH addict :) |
|
|
|
Well I have myspace but do not use it for dating that is the way my
family keeps up with each other lol my kids little sister and nieces and nephews are all hooked up there together so we can send messages back and forth I don't add friends there unless I know them it is like anything else it all depends on how you use it. |

I have a myspace account and so do my children. I monitor ALL activities
and conversations that take place on this pc. Mind you, they can access their accounts from friends pc's that I may not be aware of, so yes it has alot to do with the maturity and how educated anyone is that uses any internet meeting websites, whether they be myspace, JSH, or many of the numerous java or irc client chatrooms widely available across the internet. |

I reckon i am the only one on the plant who is NOT on myspace. Sorry!

I don't use it either, my daughter does. I am amazed at how many
parents have kids with spaces on there and don't check them out. I talked to a woman at work today and her 13 y/o daughter showed her a friend's space, where he is smoking a joint and drinking beer (13 y/o) posted on there. The mom told the parents they may wants to check their son's site on occasion. I think part of the issue is the lack of parental supervision of the kids using it, just like anything else, the predators are there and if no one is watching, they will try to seduce the kids. |

I have four myspace addresses...One for my online friends, one for my
family...etc. I don't remember if that's against the rules or not. I edit my friends list carefully, there are constant "this profile has been deleted" letters in my mailbox now that I've added a few musician friends. I have a Mac, I don't get popups from myspace, no viruses that I know of. |

I had a myspace account but deleted it after some freek wouldn't leave
me alone. His 3rd email said he wanted me to have his baby! My only pryor emails said Hi, how are you - in response to him and we can email on this site when he offered his personal email. I told him to never contact me again and he went psycho - said I depressed him, he knew we were ment to be together - he lived in OH and was going to relocate to TX to be w/ me and have kids together - This freak has my picture and knows what city I live in. I completely deleted the account. |

I dont have a problem with myspace, I have an account myself...Its a way
that I keep in touch with my friends...But if your worried about sex offenders well my opinion on that they could be any where..not just my space |

I have a MYSpace account but rarely use it anymore. Tons of scammers on
that site, not too mention the freaks like the one CCG encountered. I just had to put my account to private that way nobody can access it, unless they know me. |
