They Did Their Share
On Veteran’s Day we honor Soldiers who protect our nation. For their service as our warriors, They deserve our admiration. Some of them were drafted; Some were volunteers; For some it was just yesterday; For some it’s been many years; In the jungle or the desert, On land or on the sea, They did whatever was assigned To produce a victory. Some came back; some didn’t. They defended us everywhere. Some saw combat; some rode a desk; All of them did their share. No matter what the duty, For low pay and little glory, These soldiers gave up normal lives, For duties mundane and gory. Let every veteran be honored; Don’t let politics get in the way. Without them, freedom would have died; What they did, we can’t repay. We owe so much to them, Who kept us safe from terror, So when we see a uniform, Let’s say "thank you" to every wearer. Bring Them Back
Let's honor all the men and woman that serve in the U.S. military somehow. Hero's whom fight for our rights and liberties for this our nation, every branch from the past and to those whom serve it now. Bring them all back safe and sound in good condition, after their missions and let them know how much we've all been missing them. Bring them all back to us now because we need them, we'll all be there to greet them and let them know how much they all mean to us. Let's honor all the men and woman that serve in the U.S. military somehow. Hero's whom maintain our freedom so we all can live freely and be so proud. Bring them all back to us now in good condition, after their missions so we can let them all know just how much we've all been missing them! Bring them all back safe and sound because we need them we'll all be there to greet them so we can all let them know how much they all mean to us. Air force, Army, Navy, Marines Bring Them All Back! Comrades in Arms
Tonight, we gather to honor the birthday of the Corps Our ranks are thinned, some in peace, some in war Those assembled are your friends, having borne similar training as you Those memories will never leave our mind, no matter what we do Look around you and share your stories with them-laugh and smile Knowing some are whoppers and grow all the while Still, you embellish your experiences with great flair and style Like crawling on your knees with the pack on your back, that last dusty mile Those of us who date back fifty years, or more, have a concern. Who is to carry on ? Who, in ten years will fill this chair--who will tell those stories when we are gone ? Fear not, I am here to say there are tested veterans coming along the way They will take our place and carry the banner unfurled some fine day Their training was the same, their duty and honor as strong as ours ever will be Fear not, we will be replaced by women and men of which we will be proud, you will see The honor of our Corps will always be held high for all to admire Each one has been tested by the steel forge of fire Lift your glass and join me in a toast to those who have fallen in days gone by To those who have joined us to celebrate this day--and those yet to die Ours is a comradeship others admire for it's strong resolve, love of country-determined will-and rigid spine The strength of this brotherhood is very hard to define God has saved the greatest honor which he will kindly bestow On those who have served their time in "Hell" where other feared to go When we take our last journey to Heaven's gate, so serene We will see it is guarded by none other than a MARINE By Murl D. Defenders Of Dreams And Light
Between our dreams and the starlight, your time-line wafts throughout the eons of wars and peace-keeping strolls. We hear you chanting a hopeful prayer, your thoughts of dying young so well-expressed. Between our dreams and the twilight, you are transported on the wings of an Eagle that fly you to much safer places inside the memory where laughter reigns far from the nightmare of untimely deaths. Between our dreams and the moonlight, we see you in a halo of brilliance kept alive by our collective breaths. You crouch behind barriers of sand while stray bullets slay our illusions of peace. Between our dreams and the sunlight, you are the one bright beam that echoes over the waves of the sea and into our hearts of anguish and pain as you sing the song of our freedom's cause. Yes, you are the stars of our night as you sing of our freedom's fight. Your courage always an inspiring sight, your sacrifice cementing our freedom's right. Lady Liberty's torch carried to wondrous heights. Sharon Flynn |

A Soldier's Mission
I drop to one knee, the mission is long... All around there is darkness just before dawn. I take a deep breath my mission at hand... For God and country please let me stand. I will always push forward a mission to do... A soldier is dedicated, professional, and true. These people we help will one day see... The battle we fight is for them to be FREE. By Mike Erickson |

As he stood up from his car, he looked so tall and proud, I gasped quietly, even though I have seen him do this hundreds of times before.
When he finally came to join me at my side, I said in awe of him, "You always look so tall and so much prouder when you are in your uniform, no matter how hard the day was or how long the night." To which my hero replied, "When you are wearing a uniform that makes you feel stronger and prouder, just by wearing it, it is not hard to find yourself standing up a bit taller and carrying yourself with more pride than if you were just in your t-shirt and shorts. I love my uniform and all that it stands for." I know how much he loves it because one day he gave me the rare honor of wearing his dress greens for me. And as I melted in my chair at his regal appearance, he said, "I can not express how much I wanted to just break down and cry in happiness when I finally received my dress greens. But I had to stand there and save it for later. I have never been happier than the day I first got to but them on." I went to visit him last night. He has his own apartment now with a fellow soldier/ friend of his. His friend kept saying, after this next tour, I am getting out. My hero said, "Yeah right, you say that every time. But you are like the drill sergeant. He kept saying, I am getting out this time son, I really am. 15 years later he is still standing there with his right hand raised saying ' I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR (OR AFFIRM) THAT I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC; THAT I WILL BEAR TRUE FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO THE SAME; AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE ORDERS OF THE OFFICERS APPOINTED OVER ME, ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS AND THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE. SO HELP ME GOD. ' But trust, when my re-enlistment comes up, I will be right there by your side with my hand proud in the air." May our troops come home safely. I pray for you everyday, even though I can not do it here in the forums sometimes. Much love and prayers for your safety from me. I am an American Soldier. I am a Warrior and a member of a team. I serve the people of the United States, and live the Army Values. I will always place the mission first. I will never accept defeat. I will never quit. I will never leave a fallen comrade. I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills. I always maintain my arms, my equipment and myself. I am an expert and I am a professional. I stand ready to deploy, engage, and destroy, the enemies of the United States of America in close combat. I am a guardian of freedom and the American way of life. I am an American Soldier. |

A Soldier’s Prayer
Lord, wrap Your arms around me In this hostile, brutal place; Let me draw peace and comfort From Your restful, sweet embrace. Help me do my duty To uphold what is right; Give me strength and courage Each day and every night. Lord, hear this soldier’s prayer To You in heaven above; Protect me with Your power, And sustain me with Your love. By Joanna Fuchs |

Free In The USA
On the Fourth of July, I raised the flag, As I spoke with love and pride: "I’m blessed to be an American," I said, To two friends who stood by my side. One was my neighbor, who lives next door, He's a citizen, like me. The other, a visitor from a hard, oppressed land, Far across the sea. "My flag stays in its box this year," Said my neighbor, boiling mad. "The terrible shape this country’s in, The future looks nothing but bad. "Taxes, scandal, indifference and crime, On our land like a giant stain." My visitor said, "We have all that, and worse, But it’s against the law to complain." My neighbor looked startled, but not subdued; Then he started in on the Press: "There’s nothing but bad news; the headlines are bleak." (It gets me down, too, I confess.) "Our news is all good," said my visitor. "It’s just how you’d like to be. We know what our government wants us to know; Our press is controlled, you see." My neighbor spun ‘round and marched toward his house, And here is the end to my story: The next time we saw him, he was out in his yard, Proudly raising Old Glory. By Joanna Fuchs |
