It depends upon the situation. I think you need to have a choice. What if it was a rape??

If it is rape, you go the the ER and get a D&C so that should not be an issue.

I'm sorry, but it is not up for vote.
Probably never will be either.

I have 3 family members that have had abortions for medical reasons. 2 of them were having brain dead babies, and the other was a choice of her or it.
All of them were against abortions before they came to these decisions. One actually got excomminucated for it because the priest was told about it.

Anyone who would deny a woman the right to her free choice in this matter for whatever reason is sticking their nose in someone else's business and a government who would make it illegal is depriving her of proper medical care and is telling her what she must do with her own body.

Not to mention the countless unwanted children who would end up living in poverty or end up in orphanages and foster homes.

That is fine. Like I said, it is a personal choice. You would choose not to do it. That is your personal choice. You have a right to that.

But to take away the personal choice of someone else is not right. That is what some people would like to do.

I do understand the heartache of those that can not have children. My ex brother in-law and his wife could not conceive and ended up adopting a boy.

But in reality your talking about two different situations.

There are many reasons that we can come up why one should not.

And only a few that some will say they should not.

So should a 10 year old girl that was raped by her father and ended up pregnant have to carry the baby to give it up. And go through all the hardships that they will be put through. Having friends belittle them and with the thought of others putting them down or saying they deserved it or lead the man on.

With the chance of totally messing her up mentally for the rest of her life that could even lead her to suicide all due to because she could not deal with this reality that was forced upon her.

Can you honesty say that option should not be there.

Or another case what if the woman has cancer and told if she carries the child full term there is nothing they will be able to do for her and she will die.

Yes I do know for a fact these type of cases happen all the time.

As far as the one that can't have one they do still have and option of adoption.

i apologise, i didnt go any further into my opinions of rape etc, as ive been there and its to much of a touchy subject for me at the moment. im just saying thats why i didnt comment further, sorry.

sucks but really sad hate too admit it i was close too rape once date rape.the guy wouldnt get no for an answer

women are not incubators mad ...as long as men continue to believe they have the right to dictate what we can or cant do with our bodies then we continue to live under that 2nd class/property status that women have been battling against for centuries.

if there was a couple, the man does have a right to express is opinion in whether he wants the baby or not, but in the end, it boils down to the female in what she wants she gets. which isnt fair really. its is baby to.

Very well said, and what about the rest of the family? The child is someone's grandkid, nephew, niece, etc.

The problem with this is, when everyone makes their own rules, then basically there are none. Everything is a gray area, when really certain things are either right or wrong, when it comes right down to it.

Is this thread asking if I think people should get abortions, or if I think it should be illegal to get abortions. Those are 2 completely different things.

This subject DOES have a right or wrong to it tho..Don't you think it's wrong to create a child, knowing you don't want it,let it be born and just up and kill it one day AFTER it has experienced life?..And what about women like me..My disability is genetic..I'm just supposed to have the kid KNOWING what kinda life is ahead of it?huh

First off, you have to realize life doesn't revolve around you and only you. There's more to life then just our needs. To kill a child, just because it's an inconvenince to you, is selfish. I'm sorry but it is.

As for the 2nd part, sometimes it's through difficult things like that, that you find out how strong you really are. Besides that, could always somehow end up where the child doesn't get whatever you have.

And if it does, that child can end up being used to inspire others too, and uplift. So it's not like nothing good would come of it.
