As a person who had to make that choice 20 yrs ago, I can honestly say that you do not know what your decision will be until you are in that situation. I didn't want to have a child and it was agreed that we would abort. Let me tell everyone, that was the hardest decision I have ever had to make. And though every thing was set when iy came down to the wire I couldn't go through with it. My daughter is now 22 yrs old. She knows all about the choices and the agony I went through with this decision. And yes there were hard times but I have never regretted my decision in her entire lifetime. And now have the most beautiful set of twin grandsons in the world. So event though there is alot of controversy over this issue it is still a personal choice.

I bet though, you couldn't imagine life without your child and grandkids though right? This is what you miss out on when you abort.

I don't think that's fair, just because we're guys, means are thoughts mean nothing, or don't count?

No, your life can be ruined financially though because even if you never wanted a child and always said so, well that's just too bad --- her decision!
Yes she get's to bow out of the mutual responsibility thing but you don't.

No, your emotional life (yes we have those things to -just not on our sleeves) can be ruined because even if you want the child that you created together you have no say when she says flush --- her decision!

yer a man its not your choice

I've been waiting on someone to say that..Thank you Tina!

murder should be no ones choice!

Like I said , why not kill the rapist???
He is the criminal...Oooooh i forgot...that would not be politically correct! Babies are easy targets...especially all snuggled up inside a womb where you really can't even see them suck their thumbs...
i just accept that under the law its a woman's choice.if you make you live with it

anything can be made law...depends on the degradation of the polpulace at any one time.

Which is something that is slowly gotten worse over time I would venture to say.

I think it is a matter of choice for myself it's a big no I couldn't do it. But there is an old quote " I may not agree with your opinions but I will defend unto death your right to have them~flowerforyou

Touche...

The repercussions of the choice to abort a child will fall on the hearts & souls of the mother and those immediately involved in performing the abortion. I am not accountable for someone else's choice to abort - it is not my call to make. I'm more concerned with the death that is caused in MY name by those representing ME (ie. the death penalty & war) as those 'sins' will fall on my heart & soul - for those I am accountable.

Your statement is true, my children and grandchildren are my life. But it still is a personal choice and there is no right or wrong answer to it. For those of you that mentioned adoption, I have a friend that put a child up for adoption and she regrets that more than anything. Knowing that there is a part of you somewhere in the world and not knowing or seeing that child grow up is worse regret than abortion.

people make the choices that they think are right for them.i guess it could be considered selfishness or maybe the person is suicidal because of an awanted pregnance you just never know.I'm not making other people's choices or judgeing anyone

i dont agree with abortion..but and this is a big but here are cases its needed and requiered..sometimes theres as a choice and sometimes there isnt

I disagree, there's always a choice. No one is holding a gun to a person's head saying they have to kill their baby.
thats very black and white view on life..there isnt always choices..life isnt that simple ..theirs alot of grey areas with this and individual cases have to be looked at like someone said earlier a child been raped by her father been made to go threw pregnancy and childbirth..isnt right..it will ruin both lives

Again, as I said, 20 years later is she gonna regret having the kid? I think not.

And yes, there is always a choice, no matter what the situation is, you can go in either direction here.

no she wont regret it because she will probably be to screwed up with life hun...and as said there are still times when you dont have a choice...but i guess we will have to disagree on this...oh one more thing though how will the baby feel when it finds out its dad is its grandad as well

How can you not have a choice? Again, no one is forcing you to kill your kid, I don't care what the circumstances are.

As for her life being screwed up, maybe it would be and maybe it wouldn't. But at least she'd have something good that came out of a traumatic experience.
a constant reminder of what her dad did to her yeh comforting...as said it isnt black and white

...how about the constant reminder of murdering her baby?

ADOPTION in only choice.
if its her fathers baby its going not going to feel part of her anyhow..she will be too traumatesed by it all

It isn't all about HOW SHE feels...there is someone else in the equation!
so this child who may be ten or eleven must go threw with a pregnancy because its the right thing to do..as said im not for abortion but i believe in the rights of individuals and that the choice if there is one isnt all black and white

no one seems to want a law to kill the rapist, incestuous father etc...I do...Maybe I will lobby Congress...who's with me??? Hmmmmmm all you people that are so willing to kill a baby should JUMP on this!!!

We could put them inside this giant vacumn chamber and suck them apart bit by bit...

Or inject them with acid to eat them alive....

Or use sharp toools to cut them limb form limb....

Ooooh the joy! drinker

I think that some people need to take a step back and quit judging others. No one knows what anyone else goes through or feels until you have been there yourself. Yes I agree adoption is a great option if an unwanted or unplanned child is at hand, there are thousands of families who would love to give the child a loving home. But a child of rape? While all children are born innocent there is a 50/50 chance that the child will bear genes that carry traits for violence and/or mental instability. Does this mean the child will be violent? No, but it is also something the mother has to consider. And something adoption agencies have to tell prospective parents (if they are aware of the fact). Does this give the child in question A good chance of adoption? Maybe but it does lower it's chances as children with possible problems are harder to place. Don't believe in abortion? Fine don't have one....but don't condemn other's that choose that option when you have no idea what thier emotional or logical reason is for making that choice....

Murder is bad...alright, fair enough. War? How about that, we have choices and we make choices independantly regardless of somebody else's thought. Millions of people die everyday because they have no food, nobody lifts a finger...a baby that isn't even born yet gets aborted...the clinic goes up in flames. Millions die due to tyranny of a leader that doesn't believe their faith, nobody is shouting for them...a woman walks into an abortion clinic and gets eggs thrown at her as she leaves. Pro-life negates itself...

There is no difference between law removing choice than woman doing so.
"My body" is the most heinous self-centered murder defense on the planet in light of the fact that what's being created here was begun by two persons, and affects, at the least, 3.
It shames the true nature of the original woman.

I see no one jumping at China for killing off children because of their overpopulation, nobody jumps for other's but God forbid it happen in our own country. Choices are to be made, who are we to judge those choices...Land of the Free...

In a sense maybe, but at least the kid has a chance at life, and someday maybe they can reunite too.

I do understand the heartache of those that can not have children. My ex brother in-law and his wife could not conceive and ended up adopting a boy.

But in reality your talking about two different situations.

There are many reasons that we can come up why one should not.

And only a few that some will say they should not.

So should a 10 year old girl that was raped by her father and ended up pregnant have to carry the baby to give it up. And go through all the hardships that they will be put through. Having friends belittle them and with the thought of others putting them down or saying they deserved it or lead the man on.

With the chance of totally messing her up mentally for the rest of her life that could even lead her to suicide all due to because she could not deal with this reality that was forced upon her.

Can you honesty say that option should not be there.

Or another case what if the woman has cancer and told if she carries the child full term there is nothing they will be able to do for her and she will die.

Yes I do know for a fact these type of cases happen all the time.

As far as the one that can't have one they do still have and option of adoption.

i apologise, i didnt go any further into my opinions of rape etc, as ive been there and its to much of a touchy subject for me at the moment. im just saying thats why i didnt comment further, sorry.

sucks but really sad hate too admit it i was close too rape once date rape.the guy wouldnt get no for an answer

im sorry to hear that

Ok, for those who are for abortion here, I want you to think about something. Take your life as it is right now, your friends, your experiences, kids, grandkids, etc, and now picture that life never existing, because you were never given the chance to live it.

Now along those same lines, if you have siblings, imagine if one of them didn't exist, their life snuffed out before it could see and experience the world.

It's not a very pretty picture is it?

For me this isn't just some fantasy, this is and could have been my reality. My mom before she had me, was pregnant with my brother or sister, and she aborted it. I always wonder how my life would be different today, had she had that child. Where I would be, would I have made the same choices I have made, etc.

Beyond that I wish I had that sibling in my life, someone who could help me through different experiences having gone through it themselves, someone I could talk to and confide in when I didn't feel I could go to anyone else, that I could relate to, someone I could have fun and enjoy life with. This is something I will always have to deal with, that empty feeling, knowing someone is missing who shouldn't be, my life forever changed because of the choice my mom made.

On top of that, I myself could very easily could not have existed either. I was created out of wedlock, my parents never did marry, and my mom was almost going to abort me too, if not for my dad convincing her not to. I will be forever indebted to him for that. It's a scary thought to think that I may not have been here were it not for him, but thank God my mom changed her mind, and 20 years later here I am today.

Just something to consider........

If you fight for life, fight for life regardless of location...millions die from hunger I see no one lifting a finger, millions die because of their faith not one person shouts, hundreds of thousands in our own country die due to drunk driving I don't see you marching to your senater and making an issue...if you fight, fight but don't selectively fight.
