I AM A CHRISTIAN.

I have no problem with others beliefs, I just find the Christian bashing a little harsh. I tend to not speak up when someone groups ALL of us Christians together in the same group of people. Some of which I will note show a certain lack of tolerance, but please remember, not ALL of us are like that and it shows your ignorance to place a negative thought on a group of people, many of which you dont know and have failed to try to know. Some Christians or Some people might think like that but it is not ALL of us.

Thank you.

This (my original post that started this off) is my issue. I can not help being a "Christian" because I do follow most of the Christian belief system. People talk about christians as a group of people that lack thinking (just because a Christian opinion is different then theirs), tolerance, and individuality. Though I know that the Lord is our "shepherd" stuff does make it seem as a group we are followers. Personally I follow three main rules. "Do onto others as you would have them do onto you" Tolerance and kindness are key and that god is always with me (except during sex or showering). For me to be lumped in with a group that is being cateragorized as intolerant and followers is something I strongly object to. And all I was asking is for the "more tolerant non-Christian" to practice what she was preaching by realizing that I, like many christians, practice tolerance and kindness to those around us and do not wish to engage in an arguement that is based on an opinion versus an opinion where there will be very few winners if any.

i understand what your saying, but i dont think of christians as those lacking the ablity to think or have their opinion's - i respond to post that mainly contain quotes that are made or used to supposedly prove there point on something and their use of that piece of scripture is incorrest - by incorrect i dont men incorrect by my fellings on the subject put forth - but by the very bible they use to defend their position. I ask that christians no matter what percentage of belief they hold fast to do no more than not use their belief's out of contaxt to make there point and in fact when i was in the christian movement it went on there to - christian's throwing bible verses back and forth at each other to make their invalid points.Christians of that ilk - tent to use the bible to gain advantage over another - it did not work then and it dont work now. If i find or see quotes used out of contaxt i will respond with not "my" view - but with what the bible actually says!! or states."in-context" to that which is being talked about in and around what the passages state. by the way - the christian god is with you during all acts - hope that dont put a damper on your sex life - hope you dont look up when your giving head to your boyfriend and see god - laugh

I have nothing wrong with a strong christian... what I have a problem with is a christian who thinks they have to slam their beliefs into everyone else. Religion is a cult or group... you don't have to recruit people... let them fall into there own beliefs and be satisfied with what you believe.

It is one thing for a person to say that they belong to Christ, but it is entirely another thing that Christ says they belong to him.

What I have a problem is that some people down grade other individuals but never take a look at themselves. Christians included. So as long as I keep an eye on myself while I am looking at you, I will be okay.

I strongly believe I would rather have a friend who is spiritually honest than fanatically religous. You know the type, my way or the highway.

That's the beauty of it. Everyone has to account for their own being. It doesn't matter about any title that I may want to give myself. If I am not honest, or if I am violent, or if I help my next door neighbor, or if I cause extreme emotional harm, does it matter what RELIGION I am attached to? But it does matter if I can identify the truth in what I am doing. Atleast you can count me a friend or foe.
