I will NOT tolerate any kind of lie. Especially one that is for personal gain or taking light of any kind of sad situation.

My philosophy has always been "trust someone till they give you a reason NOT too" Its PART of who I am. I have learned here in the one dimensional,,things are backwards,, "Don't trust ANYONE, until they give me a reason TOO" Its a sad world,,

and told you they had canser, or they owned a company. What would you think? They were an idiot? They lacked self esteem? They wanted your sympathy? They wanted to impress you? everyone lies...those who say they dont are lying..we lie because we are either afraid of not getting what we want or loosing what we already have...the point here (IMO) is how the lie might have affected you...did it sting your ego? did it make you feel like a fool or taken for an idiot? When people lie its not really their motives we need to worry about but what it did to us and whether we can recover from it or not? If not, then we are giving those people way more power in our lives than they deserve.

I had a private email with my friend today about this thread, and he said to me... "people are attention whores, and people lie to impress you" I have little isse with people who lie to build up their self esteem, like you said everyone lies at times, but when they do it and ellicit emotion from you like sympothy, or the like, that is just sick....
