Anytime I feel guilt, I drink a few beers and the guilt is gone. Great therapy.laugh laugh laugh laugh

Serve in combat. Fight for someone elses freedom. Get shot twice. Take pride in your actions. Worked for me and all my family back to the civil war. But yeah a couple of beers gets rid of my guilt too along with my inhibitions. Whoops! I lost my pants again! Ha ha ha ha!

Well....I lied. See, I don't have any guilt at all. Why the hell should I? But anyways, it's time for a drink at 10 in the morning.laugh laugh laugh laugh

i feel no guilt for what has been done in the past.
those people are dead.
we should just live for today and make our lives the way they should be.

What I really need to know, is how do I apologize to her for the evils of my race? I am working on a poem about all that African-Americans have had to go though. I call it "My Noble Sister". I think if I read it to her with the right amount of emotional projection, she will see I am not the typical evil white man.

Hmmm if she doesn't fall out of the chair laughing at you she probably will walk out in disgust that you are so certain that she sees herself or the genertions past as a "victim". How lame. Shows just how deeply you have bought into the superiority elitest view that Euro-whites are the omnipotent peoples when in many instances they did not survive without the help of people of color.

I don't think the poem about slavery is a good idea though. For one, if they bring it up then show your sensitivity to it but do not bring it to their attention. My best friend does not like to talk of slavery at all. She knows it happened and she knows that the prejudice is still there as she lives it daily but to discuss it, she prefers not to.

The thing that people have to remember is the residual effects of slavery are still in effect and we need to be sensitive to it. The effects on black folks of being slaves with no education, discriminated against, treated as less human, etc.... is still a struggle for them. It does not fix over night. They are a race trying desperately to work through all of their issues plus make their way. We have to be sensitive to the struggle. That does not mean treat them differently, it means, respect their humanity, lose the taught prejudices we were taught and judge them as humans, it means to see them as a participating contributing part of this country and not the stygma the whites have created of them, etc....

You will freak her out if you come at her with slavery on your mind. Just treat her as a gracious, loving women and if the subject comes up then show her your sensitivity. I hope that helps

Definatly don't bring it up, look...if I wanted to I could hold a number of things against humanity, but I don't. Why? Because what happened, happened a long time ago when things were quite a bit different now this isn't to say it still doesn't occure today but it is more relaxed than it was. Racism still exists because as my equation goes: race=human, human=fail...and all the middle parts as well.

exactly .... I was married to a Vietnam Vet. He had to get to the place of letting go of America's *f*ed attitude at him when he came home. He was a HERO. They didn't see that at the time. Their loss. It's all good now. So's this situation. Geesh we could all bear a grudge for something if we tried.

Unreal. Just let it go OP. smokin

Hey, my people were the first slaves, and were treated VERY poorly when we came to this country...

I think everyone should apologise to ME.

Reguardless of the fact that it was a bazillion years ago, and I live a comfortable life now...

Praise me and the plight of all Irish people.....

**for those who are saterically impaired, this was satire**

Why??? That is the wrong way to go, no one is singly responsible for the wrongs. Let by gones be just that, gone, this a new day!

A few beers only blocks out your guilt for awhile, it is still there! Do good deeds and be a better person to your fellow Man and Woman and move on! That is all you can do treat everyone fairly until they do wrong to you, learn from your mistakes and just move past the guilt. Love who you want and be happy!
