Democratic congressman likens Jewish settlers in the West Bank to 'termites' invading homes

In a heated discussion Monday at an event sponsored by the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) compared Jewish Israelis' settlement of the West Bank to termites' quiet destruction of homes. "There has been a steady [stream] — almost like termites can get into a residence and eat before you know that you've been eaten up, and you fall in on yourself — there has been settlement activity that has marched forward with impunity and at an ever-increasing rate to the point where it has become alarming," Johnson reportedly told the group. The U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation advocates boycotting Israel. Johnson also suggested "'Jewish people' routinely steal land and property from Palestinians," The Washington Free Beacon wrote.

I don't know enough "truth" to condemn or condone the actions of either side in this dispute, but I don't like the results and can't condone calling a people termites..... isn't that more or less what happened in Germany some decades ago?

That sounds like a call to exterminate is acceptable!

Seattle's Minimum Wage Rise Is Reducing Employment In Seattle

We’ve been debating the effects of raising the minimum wage for some time now, and specifically there’s been a back and forth between myself and various acolytes of Nick Hanauer over what the minimum wage rise in Seattle will do to employment prospects there.

My claim was, by the standards of basic and conventional economics, entirely uncontroversial. A rise in the price of something will lead to people purchasing less of that thing. So a rise in the price of low-skill labor will lead to employers purchasing less of low-skill labor.

A troubling turn for U.S. relations in the Muslim world

When he launched his attempt to rebuild U.S. relations with the Muslim world seven years ago, Barack Obama started with Turkey and Egypt, vital U.S. allies that seemed to be on the cusp of change. Under Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey was pioneering a model of moderate, democratic Islamism. Egypt was still ruled by an aging strongman, but with prodding from the George W. Bush administration, it had allowed the flourishing of a liberal civil society and was attempting to modernize its economy.

Since then, the two countries have, indeed, transformed their political systems and their relations with the United States — and the result has been a disaster for U.S. interests. As Obama prepares to leave office, Turkey and Egypt are emerging as twin models for a 21st-century Muslim authoritarianism, one Islamist and one secular. Their regimes are far more repressive than they were in 2009 and far less open to liberal ideas. But their most distinguishing feature, compared with a decade ago, is their anti-Americanism.

Clinton Rewards Wasserman Schultz’s Shady Behavior With a New Job

DWS will continue to push the corrupt brand of politics she perfected as DNC chair

By Michael Sainato • 07/25/16 11:00am

On July 22, Wikileaks released 20,000 DNC emails, exposing DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the DNC staff of sabotaging Bernie Sanders’ campaign. In the wake of the fallout, Wasserman Schultz formally resigned from her position as DNC chair, only to be replaced by another Clinton surrogate, DNC vice chair Donna Brazile.

Rather than allowing Wasserman Schultz’s career to go down with her resignation, Clinton has awarded Wasserman Schultz a new role as honorary chair to the Clinton campaign’s 50-state program.

“There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to Republicans than Debbie—which is why I am glad that she has agreed to serve as honorary chair of my campaign’s 50-state program to gain ground and elect democrats in every part of the country, and will continue to serve as a surrogate for my campaign nationally, in Florida, and other key states,” Clinton announced.

.@HillaryClinton says Debbie Wasserman Schultz will serve as "honorary chair" of campaign's 50-state program pic.twitter.com/nvix7RrxeF

— BuzzFeed News (@BuzzFeedNews) July 24, 2016

Wasserman Schultz, who also served as Clinton’s 2008 campaign co-chair, should be banned from the Democratic Party for overtly violating the DNC Charter. Instead, she has been rewarded for rigging the Democratic primaries, with a new job where she can continue the corrupt brand of politics she perfected as DNC chair.

Of course, Wasserman Schultz’s resignation won’t serve as a catalyst for reform in the Democratic Party. By moving Wasserman Schultz to a different role within the party, her duties and authority will remain essentially the same.

Such damage control posing as reform is just the latest slight to progressives and Sanders supporters by the Clinton campaign. Many view the selection of Sen. Tim Kaine as an antithetical move to the progressive movement energized by Sanders. Members of the Democratic Convention panels selected by Clinton and Wasserman Schultz are current or former corporate lobbyists. Sanders’ efforts to have former Congressman Barney Frank and Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy removed from the panels were rejected. Malloy is currently under an ethics investigation, and Frank was recently named in a Ponzi Scheme lawsuit, according to IBTimes.

Perhaps the only saving grace in Wasserman Schultz’s resignation is that the move reaffirms the authenticity of the leaked DNC emails. It will also provide her Democratic primary challenger, Tim Canova, with momentum leading up to August 30—when voters in South Florida decide whether or not to keep Wasserman Schultz in Congress. If Wasserman Schultz fails to win reelection, Clinton will surely find another job for her if she wins the presidency.

Hillary Clinton’s political machine, has refused to budge when it comes to making meaningful reforms. Bernie Sanders has yet to revoke his endorsement of Clinton, even as Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has pushed him to do the right thing for America. Regardless of what Sanders chooses to do, his supporters will continue the revolution—and will never reward the Democratic Party for corrupting democracy.

I see another bubble about to burst..... at least a very major correction unfolding

The metals market does not match the stock index, the banks and the market are flush, but the money is not making it into the economy as much as they would have us believe while the digital market fluctuates.

Fewer and fewer "real" jobs are being created yet they say unemployment is at a long time low.

The housing market is slipping while home prices are rising.

Is it an election year manipulation of the markets that will bring a correction?

New DNC Email Leak is the Final Nail in the Party Unity Coffin

Just how damning are these new emails?

One, dated May 21st and titled “Bernie Sanders,” from DNC press secretary Mark Paustenbach to communications director Luis Miranda, discusses spreading the damaging narrative that the Vermont Senator’s campaign “was a mess” with the full knowledge that such action could be seen as a conspiracy. Paustenbach writes:

Wondering if there’s a good Bernie narrative for a story, which is that Bernie never ever had his act together, that his campaign was a mess. Specifically, DWS had to call Bernie directly in order to get the campaign to do things because they’d either ignored or forgotten to something critical…It’s not a DNC conspiracy, it’s because they never had their act together.

Another dated May 5th, from DNC CFO Brad Marshall appears to suggest implementing a plan right out of Lee Atwater’s South Carolina politics playbook: getting someone to make an issue out of Sanders’ Jewish heritage in order to sway voters in states like Kentucky and West Virginia. The Republican strategy guru earned his infamy employing this exact tactic against former Democratic State Senator Tom Turnipseed in his 1980 congressional race.

It might may no difference, but for KY and WVA can we get someone to ask his belief. Does he believe in a God. He had skated on saying he has a Jewish heritage. I think I read he is an atheist. This could make several points difference with my peeps. My Southern Baptist peeps would draw a big difference between a Jew and an atheist.

While once again, these leaked emails only serve to confirm what many progressives believed all along, they could not have come at a worse time.

The Iran Agreement Contained a Troubling Secret Document

In 14 years the mullahs will have a new, advanced, state-of-the-art Nuke program

Mohammed Zarif, the U.S.-educated foreign minister of Iran, has confirmed our worst fears. There is a secret document after all.

The nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1, “the nuke deal”, as it is commonly referred to in the West had a secret component.

Confirmation of the secret document came by way of Fars, Iran’s semi-official news agency. The truth of the document was revealed by Zarif to raise the psyche of the Iranian people. Zarif is of the belief that the nuclear project is part and parcel of Iranian pride and the negotiators, which he proudly led, deliberately added several elements to the document insure that Iran retains control of their own nuclear destiny.

Attorneys Intend to Ask for 'the Clinton Deal'

which is more of an indictment of the legal system than anything else.
Almost every criminal case ends in a plea deal.

Will other careless security-clearance holders get a pass?
Of course they do. Constantly. Every single day.
This is like saying "will other careless drivers get a pass?"
You see people turn without a signal? Not use a turn signal in a parking lot? Stop past the crosswalk? Even when there are plenty of surveillance cameras?
Those careless drivers get a pass!

“In some ways, [the Clinton and Petraeus cases] now create a glass ceiling and a glass floor,”

The law does that constantly. "x,y,z, constitutes criminal intent, a,b,c, does not."
Why do you think they are so specific in their terminology use.

“By Comey’s wording [about Clinton], now we have a floor as to what constitutes intent that deserves prosecution.”

Which is more of an indication that the law in place was too vague and a crappy law.

Once again a Clinton sets a dangerous precedent for American security

Once again, Clinton, like millions of other people, get off because of crap laws passed, crap laws that offer loopholes to be exploited.

Research tax loopholes.
Jesus.
Talk about arbitrary application of the law.
2 people could make the same argument regarding interpretation of tax law to 2 judges and come to 2 different conclusions each quarter about what it means.

This may be one of the boldest attempts we've seen someone make to enter the US illegally

In this June 7, 2001, photo, Mexican national Enrique Aguilar Canchola is found sewn into a passenger seat of a vehicle as part of an attempt to illegally enter the US.

Canchola, 42, was stopped at the San Ysidro, California, border crossing (which you can see out the window). At the time of Canchola's attempted entry, it was the world's busiest border crossing.

According to US Immigration and Naturalization officials, the incident was part of growing trend of undocumented immigrants cramming themselves into intricate and potentially deadly compartments to enter the country.

It’s not just Hillary Clinton. Members of Congress are careless with classified material too.

Over the past year, Hillary Clinton’s use of her own email server while secretary of state has been tremendously controversial and has sparked FBI, congressional and journalistic investigation. Some of the attention has been on whether an unsecured server was used to exchange classified information. Meanwhile, if you recall, observers were originally outraged about the private server because, some claimed, Clinton had used a private server to avoid records requests for her emails.

But members of Congress could be investigating themselves for all the same reasons. As a body, Congress has exempted its office files from public records requests — and in fact, almost no regulations govern their record-keeping.

Members of Congress need never open their files for examination — and if they do, the amount of material they make available, and the timing of when they do it, is entirely up to them. What’s more, when they do make their files available, classified material regularly turns up in it. Most congressional collections are boxes of paper, but as current members retire, more and more will be “born digital” and can include emails sent to and from a congressional office.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/monkey-cage/wp/2016/07/21/its-not-just-hillary-clinton-members-of-congress-are-careless-with-classified-material-and-their-own-records/

Attorneys Intend to Ask for 'the Clinton Deal'

Will other careless security-clearance holders get a pass? Time will tell.

“We absolutely got on the phone to the prosecutor and said, ‘We want the Petraeus sentence. We want the commensurate, parallel sentence.’ And we got it!” he says, winning a $5,000 fine and a short probation term instead of possible prison for a now-retired intelligence agency employee.

Zaid says if that case still were still pending, he probably could have gotten the client, who he refused to name and asked not be identified, the same deal as Clinton, as their “carelessness,” a term used by Comey to describe Clinton’s email practices, was similar.

“In some ways, [the Clinton and Petraeus cases] now create a glass ceiling and a glass floor,” Zaid says. “By Comey’s wording [about Clinton], now we have a floor as to what constitutes intent that deserves prosecution.”

Read a little about Dr.Jill Stein....she is on the Green party ticket, and is the only sane candidate that I know of,and I have pledged my support. She is not a politician, but has very strong and admirable views on social issues. Our political system is so damaged right now, that if the politicians of the party system we have were of any real value, they wouldn't be deadlocked on every issue.
I think that we are in good position for a possible systemic failure if the election process problems are not changed.

Jill Stein is all about BIG GOVT, 70% tax to pay for it all, and them controlling everything.

Yep, the Bernie of the green party! But if you consider Bernie as far left Jill is in another universe!

Dems urged to retool their guns message

Gone, evidently, are the days when Democrats “made a deliberate and conscious decision to walk away from this issue” after Al Gore lost West Virginia in 2000, said Dave Walker, a pollster with Greenberg Quinlan Rosner, at the briefing. Now, Democrats are trying to take advantage of what they see as a polling advantage for incremental new gun laws. Expanding background checks, for example, consistently wins support from eight in 10 Americans in polls — but it’s just one in the “pantheon of defining issues,” Walker said.

So a progressive writer makes the case against Clinton.... but of course he supports The Bern, not Trump. But Bernie is still too far left for many Dems.

Not a bad article really.....

What will Philly bring? It was supposed to be the Reps who were in utter chaos, and they've had their moments for sure, but Philly is going to be very interesting indeed. Even with all the insider elite party bias and support of Clinton will she get the preordained Dem crown she feels she deserves?

The Deeper Reason Many Intelligent Progressives and Independents Will Not Support Hillary Clinton

Corporate media pundits who write for publications supporting Clinton (I’m looking at you, New York Times, CNN, NPR, and MSNBC) shrug off these numbers as the simple product of longstanding attacks on her credibility by her opponents. This is exactly the kind of nonchalant dismissiveness and shoddy journalism that doesn’t wash with intelligent progressives and independents anymore. There are many, many politicians who have been in the public eye for decades; only a handful are seen to be as dishonest as Hillary Clinton.

It’s not rocket science. The unbiased history shows that she does lie and obfuscate more frequently than other politicians, and she has changed her policy positions more often than most.

Intelligent voters notice this. Clinton rarely seems to be speaking her mind. She appears to calculate before speaking what specific words she should use to kill off a line of questioning, rather than engage in open discussion.

Barack Obama once said, “Hillary Clinton will say anything, and change nothing.” These words resonated with voters in 2008, and they resonate again now.

Writer Smacks Down The Daily Show's Suggestion Trump Jr. Plagiarized Him

By Josh Feldman | Mediaite

The Daily Show thought it had a smoking gun on its hands tonight, but it turns out it’s not exactly what they thought.

See, they looked at some of the lines from Donald Trump Jr.‘s speech and found them to be very similar to a piece written by conservative author F.H. Buckley:

OMG, right?!

Well, it turns out that it wasn’t plagiarism. Buckley helped write the speech.
