Hearing my daughter say, "good morning Mom, I love you!" first thing in the morning; driving down the highway with the windows down and my hair blowing in the breeze; the sound of my daughter laughing; just as the street lights/signs come on in town as the sun is going down; the smell of rain in the air & so much more...

I have to agree. Don't blow sunshine up my azz - just be honest. Then let me decide if I want to delete/block or play with you. This way, neither one of us is wasting our time.

Maybe she is trying her best to break through whatever "shell" she has put up around herself, but is having a really hard time doing it. Phone/text/email is safe because she can be herself, but does not have to be around any other people. But face to face, she is trying to remain as "normal" as possible by not discussing romantic issues and trying to "blend in" or be neutral and unobtrusive.

The bathroom break and dinner thing, to me, are red flags. Has she ever said anything about an abusive boyfriend? Sounds like she has maybe been at the mercy of someone with some severe control issues.

Why lie? It's so much easier to tell the truth

I like the fact that people on here are protective over each other and quick to straighten someone out who gets out of line. But they do it in such a loving, non-confrontational but "you had better catch my drift real quick" kind of way. From day one, the friendship and genuine care Minglers show one another has been evident.

Dating sucks...and it thrilling, scary, amazing, & wonderful at the same time. When I said "I do" 20 years ago, I thought that it was forever. I was so glad I had gotten through the dating experience, found my "Mr. Wonderful" and had made it to the finish line. And how did that work out for me, you ask? Well, here I am, a Mingler.

So I look at it one of two ways: I can run and hide with my head stuck in the sand, grumbling every time the opportunity presents itself, or look at it as an adventure. I love the fact that I am older and wiser now, able to understand and decipher what once was foreign to me.

So just sit back and enjoy yourself. Even if your knight in shining armor has taken a wrong turn and is afraid to ask for directions, you never know what new friends are waiting for you on your horizon

I am of the opinion that if there is chemistry between two people, children are not an issue. For some it is a stumbling block and they miss out on what could be. Therefore, the chemistry is just not there and they are saving you your precious time. Just be patient, op, and your knight in shining armor will come.

My issue is just the opposite, because of the world we live in, I find it hard to let anyone in because I am a single mother. My child's welfare and protection are my number one priority, so it is hard to let anyone close to me.

I prefer men my own age or 5 - 10 years older. Just my personal preference.
