When you could walk to the corner store, even though it was a mile away.
When you knew the name of EVERY person on your street, and knew when they had company over, and usually knew them too.
When having a two year old car was doing really well.
When people actually used the kitchen tables for meals, and your Mom would tell you to keep your elbows off the table.
When Mom would give you little gems like "You never know when you'll be in an accident, so make sure your underwear are clean".
When the tv was turned off before sitting down for a meal, unless Dad's favorite team, or Mom's favorite show/movie was on.

That is sad... I have little hope for people.

A chin that warns you of the tenacity and fierceness of the owner.

...it's an ordinary 46 year old face I see in the mirror...one I walk around on the inside of...and peer out through the eyeholes at the world from.
