Om this is funny so I have to share it. Proof that most guys don't read a woman's profile before contacting her.
I work as a translator. I speak eleven languages and read and write eight of those. I listed them on my profile AND I've invited guys to message me in those languages if they choose.

So anyway.... two guys who can barely write English have sent me poorly written messages. Both guys live in countries who's language I can read. If they read my profile they'd know that could send me a written message IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE instead of struggling with English.

Ok, so maybe they can't read my profile. This means they are just sending messages to pretty pictures.

p.s. If I'm going to stay around I apparently need to learn to read Nigerian.

I had considered using fake pictures on my profile. I was going to steal pictures off a male crossdresser's profile and pretend that the pictures were of a lady, that lady being me. Then if a guy fell for me I would know that it was because of my personality and not my looks.
I decided against it. I'd hate for a guy (probably a circus performer) to fall for some 200 pound hairy bearded lady and then when we meet for coffee he sees little ol' me and becomes disappointed and devastated that I'm not the woman he was dreaming of. Then he jumps off a tall building in a suicide attempt but hits an awning and only breaks his neck and has to be cared for the rest of his life by a male midget in a wet bikini.

A female name is apparently all that's needed for some guys. I just signed up here and I got three messages BEFORE I uploaded any pictures and BEFORE I wrote anything in my profile.

If you're forum poster (and not just a reader) then I'd concentrate on contacting the women you see on forums and here's why.
I've spent time on this one particular fishy dating sight and I got a lot of unsolicited messages. So many that I ignored most. However if I recognized the guy from the site's forums I always returned his message even if he wasn't my type. Seeing a guy on the forums makes him seem familiar. He isn't just one of a zillion random dudes sending me a message. Also I know that I can quickly learn about the guy by looking through his forum history. It's not always easy to get a ladies attention. If you stick out from the crowd because the lady recognizes you from the forums then you have a leg up on the competition.

Ok, I'm not sure if I answered the question you were asking but it's out there now and I'm not erasing it. Just save my reply for when you ask the right question.
