> that really doesn't say anything other than that you wanted to have a competitive chance to make a living

I won't speak for others but in my case it said I was dedicated, driven, focused and willing to work my butt off to obtain a goal. I am not going to accept the argument that the work I put into getting my Master's Degree doesn't mean anything.

.......

To those who think education is meaningless. The next time you need a lawyer or a doctor, just call the uneducated, but "smart" guy who lives down the street. I'm sure he'll be able to help you with your problem at a much cheaper rate because he won't have an unnecessary student loan to pay off.

> I'd assume most people would leave a dating site after finding someone.

True, but new people take their place. Or, that's what is supposed to happen.

Oh well. I'm just a little disappointed. I couldn't get too involved in these forums back then because of studies. Now I have the time but the game is almost over.

I blame George Bush.

What?

President Obama does it all the time.

My apologies to Mingle for bringing up a name which I'm sure they would rather not be brought up. I had no idea about what happened.
If this thread is deleted, I won't complain or stomp my feet.

> The text spellling i find anathma and often cannot deciphe

Oh I can't stand text speak outside of where it belongs. Text speak is for texting, not sending messages on a website where a person has plenty of time to write out a full message.
What's worse is the guys who don't use common sense when sending text speak messages to me.
People like me who spend their entire lives learning to write fluently in nine languages aren't going to view lazy arse text messages in a favorable light. I do mention (brag, yea I brag) about my language skills on my profile so there's no excuse for guys to send me... "U R hot. U lik 2 syp"

NO!

> In general the tone is somewhat intolerant but with well meaning ignorance.

Really? I have not run across that yet but then again I have not been back long

A lot of people say education isn't connected to intelligence.
I think it is connected. While it's true that the uneducated can be intelligent and the educated can be unwise, on average the educated are smarter than the uneducated. Intelligent people are more likely to go to college and more likely to complete college.

Higher education is also a sign of higher motivation. People who complete college on average have more drive and determination.

You can find examples to counter my argument but those are outliers.

Tribbles

There's a testimonial on your profile from one of the people I remember from the clique battles, the Alaskan prom queen. She was very pretty and the guys followed her around. She didn't talk to the other pretty girls on the forum.

Please tell me that was sarcasm or a joke.

> and you're right! all the cool people seem to have gone far far away.

There seems to be cool people here now, just less of them.

A few years back when I was in college a friend and I signed up for this site. We didn't post much because of studies but we did read a lot of the forum pages. We had our favorite posters and often got a good laugh from the wit and snark of the people here. I may have even learned a thing or two.

These forums were really busy back that. So busy that there were separate cliques, each one with its own separate coffee house thread, and sometimes theses cliques had "battles". Most were good natured but some battles were nasty enough to get the moderators involved. There was even a troll clique. Or maybe it was one dude with ten accounts, I'm not sure.

The point is this place was hopping.

Where did everyone go? While the people here now seem very nice the place isn't nearly as busy.
Did everyone find true love and move on?

p.s. And what happened to the moderator with the incredibly long profile? I think his name was Lexx (something).

edit p.s. Please don't misunderstand. I'm not knocking the site now. I'm only curious if something happened that caused people to leave. Or is it just a natural order of dating forums.

What?

No one said I was modest.

p.s. Thank you

There should be a place where we list our IQ.
If it's too low or too high then the system kicks you off mingle.

If I'm at the guys house I get up and leave $40 on the dresser.
They hate that.

p.s. I actually do that sometimes as a joke.
They don't think it's funny :)>

I'm not sure. I'd probably ask myself how the heck I ended up in bed with my dates girlfriend.

I agree. I'm looking for a nice middle age man but none of them will respond to my messages :(
