First, give me Freedom.
Then if you give me courage, I'll go into battle to defend that freedom. Of course, if you give me Public Office, I'll send someone else into battle for me. |

I am old
When I was young Fell in love Fell deeper yet Then deeper yet Two things I never would have bet That she would die My giant shell of love Fill empty with regret. I am gone When I was young Loved by one Gave back the same Gave more the same Two things I never would have dreamed He'd remain And ever be in pain And just remain. |

The shawdows of daybreak
stretch, reach, yearn, and push as far away from the source as light allows only to return home again slowly. So too my thoughts of you are never truly gone. |

Lunch with Love

Melancholy called on the phone today.
He said he'd just had lunch with Love, who had been driving by my house daily for a long time. For all those years Love never so much as tooted his horn. Just as I was about to hang up, Melancholy said Love told him he was thinking about paying me a visit the day after tomorrow. I think I'll unlock my door. |

The Sky

Just got on this site and enjoy the talented poets.
As I wake the morning sky taps silently on my window. The alms it brings begin in gold and glide to richly bathed blue on blue. The evening sky withdraws - noiseless in its mantle of gray - finally to offer diamond-studded indigo as I sleep. |
