just a thought

but hey

what do i know

Apparently not much.

That is obviously a totally bogus "interview". Arabs do not speak like that at all. The verbage is wrong, the entire tone is wrong. Whomever was in that "interview" was not an Arab, much less a Taliban commander. If he were, we would have already defeated them..and we have NOT. He gives away tactical information, evasion strategies, thier locations at a specific time...on and on. Thats not real.

Do we have to wait and watch other countries do what we should be doing out of our own conscience?

We need to burn the Bush for our own credibility's sake!!

Spanish judge opens Guantanamo investigation

MADRID – Spain's top investigative magistrate opened an investigation into the Bush administration Wednesday over alleged torture of terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay.

Judge Baltasar Garzon said documents declassified by the new U.S. government suggest the practice was systematic.

Garzon said he was acting under Spain's observance of the principle of universal justice, which allows crimes allegedly committed in other countries to be prosecuted in Spain.

Garzon's move is separate from a complaint by human rights lawyers that seeks charges against six specific Bush administration officials they accuse of creating a legal framework to permit torture of suspects at Guantanamo Bay and other U.S. detention facilities.

Spanish prosecutors on April 17 said any such probe should be carried out by the U.S. and recommended against it being launched in Spain. Garzon originally had that case, but ultimately it was transferred to another judge.

Now, Garzon is opening a probe into "possible material authors" of torture, accomplices and those who gave torture orders, although he does not name anyone specifically.

In a 10-page writ, he said documents on Bush-era treatment of prisoners, recently declassified by the Obama administration, "reveal what had been just an intuition: an authorized and systematic plan of torture and mistreatment of person denied freedom without any charge whatsoever and without the rights enjoyed by any detainee."

Garzon cited media accounts of the documents and said he would ask the U.S. to send the documents to him.

He said he is also acting on the basis of accounts by four former Guantanamo inmates who have alleged in Spanish courts that they were tortured at that U.S. prison in eastern Cuba.

All four were once accused of belonging to a Spanish al-Qaida cell but eventually cleared of the accusations. One is a Spanish citizen, another is a Moroccan citizen who has lived in Spain for more than a decade and the other two are residents of Britain.

I'm not sure whats changed but back in the day, if you were a combatant against ANY army and were not wearing a uniform, you were summarily shot for being a spy...on the spot. Screw Gitmo, I say we just get back to the business of KILLING our enemies. Following the line of reason that everyone should get a trial, a nice comfy bed, and maybe a teddy bear to sleep with is going to shackle our military from doing the business that they do...KILLING PEOPLE.

People in other countries did not get raised like the liberals and fags here did in the 70s. The world does NOT operate as liberals would like..on niceties and manners. The globe is a mean place and wars are won by superior intelligence, tactics and firepower. This liberal agenda is going to be the end of us as a superpower. And when that goes, we're all gonna be speaking Chinese.

I was against the 2nd Gulf War from the start and EVERYONE I knew called me a communist or traitor. But I knew that Iraq had NOTHING to do with Al Quaeda and was no threat to us. But the way I see it, once we're there...kill everything moving and get the hell out. Just what we didn't need, another Vietnam or Somalia.

We need to get the hell out of the UN. This is the UNited States of America and we are who we are because of OUR beiefs and OUR strengths, not the general population of earths.

All I know for sure,...that it is friggen inexcusable to have a tax rate of 2,153% on bagged tobbacco...and 158% on other tobbacco products and accesories...all in the name of healthcare...that is absolute crap.

I am fully insured and I pay it out of my own pocket.

If they really want to be fair and help the health care system...levee those same tax rates on fast food, junk food and fat peoples clothing as incentives for them to be healthier.

The Federal Govt. last raised taxes on alcohol, probably the worst and most harmful drug available, in 1973.

State taxes are nessessary but out of control.

Federal tax on wages is unconstitutional and goes only one place.... back to the private federal reserve bankers as interest on the national debt.... interest paid on borrowing our own money! It does not "fund" anything!

The Constitution taxes "corporations" to fund federal government, not the people!

Few know that a law was passed (through lobbying by large corporations) that allowed corporations the status of "individual", under definition, a "person", to avoid "corporate taxation"!

As a result, we have outsourcing of jobs, fewer penalties and laws, less accountability and practiclly no oversight of their actions.

I believe a federal tax, under the constitution, on corporations, AS A BUSINESS, is all that is needed to actually fund "federal government". They also receive taxes from the individual states as well, so for you and me, as workers receiving "wages", to pay a federal tax IS WRONG, AND UNCONSTITUTIONAL! We are paying the same tax twice! Through our individual states and through a tax on our wages.

Yeah, I sure thought that in the constitution of the United States it says "The government shall impose no taxes on individuals". I'm not sure but I think the 16th amendment changed that.

Im my entire life, I have never gotten an income tax RETURN. No matter how much I pay in, I always still owe at the end of the year.
Never gotten ANY check, benefits, payments or anything from the government...ever. Yet my brother with full blown epilepsy, who has seizures almost daily, and has for over 30 years, and cannot work for it, cannot get a social security or SSI check. Turned dwn flat every time he's tried. He also got cancer and was so sick from chemo and radiation he couldn't get out of bed....and still couldn't get any help from the government.

I know 25 black people (at least) who have jobs and get SSI, Social Security, Welfare, Housing "assistance", etc. Whats wrong with that picture???

So I'm very pissed at our government, especially when I'm writing that huge check.

Legalize meth?

I don't think so. Back in the days when it was made using P2P and
in a lab, I was heavy into it. Every single one of my partners from that period is dead now. Every last one. All but one died from gunshots. The other, a heart attack induced by..you guessed it, meth.

This is all we need...a country full of skeletonized, paranoid speed freaks. I actually think the guys cooking it and selling it should be locked away for a long long time. And as for the Mexican super-labs, we should have covert ops to take them out. The corrupt Mexican government sure isn't going to do it....ever. The thermal (and olfactory) signature is unmistakable even from a P3 flying at 30,000 ft. and would be easy to pinpoint. Locking down the borders for that reason and the rest isn't a bad idea either.

Meth bad.

As a matter of fact, the guy in the photo behind me in my pic was my #1 brother in the world at that time. He got shot about 30 times over it. His body loked like a sweating wax dummy in the casket. His wife and baby girl had to see that. About 500 Bandidos showed up for his funeral here but not a one did anything about it. The guy that shot him was a big supplier. And I guess brotherhood takes a back seat over meth. Everything does.

What does the word commitment look like or mean to you?

I think I mentioned approach-avoidance conflict yesterday! lol

Thomas Jefferson said, in the declaration of independence: We mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes, and our sacred honour. This works for individual commitment to one another as well, I think.

That Thomas Jefferson was a really smart dude, right?

I have found myself talking to someone and getting too close..or closer than I want to be now..regardless of how close I wanted to be to begin with. And they don't have to change. (hmmm...Not selling myself on a long-term relationship very well here, huh?)

If you believe in psycholgy, I think the correct term is an approach-avoidance conflict. The simultaneous attraction to and repulsion of the same goal. The excitement of the meeting and the angst of it, and generally, both grow stronger as the event nears. Or as you percieve it growing nearer, the "bond" stronger, etc. They (people that think they can distill life experience down to a few neat terms...psychologists) say that it is the most difficult of the three conflict types to resolve.

Of course, sometimes you just realize that the person you're talking with has some issues and you need to shut it down.

My head hurts. ohwell

And PLEASE, don't let my post be the end of this thread. I'm getting a complex!!

I am wondering if it is safe to say that we are all closedminded in some ways?

Do we all not have absolute beliefs somewhere along the line?

Having non-negotiable absolute beliefs, also called facts as far as we ourselves are concerned, does not make us close-minded. If you would not debate the fact say, that you love your children, that water is H2O, etc...that just makes us unwilling to waste our time, not close-minded.

Nope. Physical pain doesn't even cause me physical pain anymore.
I miss some people and worry about a few in harms way but not enough to forget that what happens happens and theres nothing I can do about it.
