I know many people feel that married and separated are the same thing and in some cases that may be true. I was separated for over a year and the divorced papers were filed and agreed by both my ex and myself. We had been in a name only marriage for several years and neither of us dated during that time. So when I went on my first date I was separated and 3 months later divorced. I had taken time to get my life in order and I knew there was no going back. However according to your terms I was married and cheating. I never broke my vows and since the divorce was just a matter of a legality I have a different opinion. I think every situation is unique. Well said

Wait, I thought this was a question about dating someone who is ''SEPARATED''? Then some of you mention an ''OPEN RELATIONSHIP''? Confused.com which is it?

I don't see any problem dating someone who is separated. Divorce costs a lot of money and time, takes a couple of years too if I remember that right, then again that's over here maybe it's different in the states. -I wouldn't knock someone back just cause they don't have divorce papers. |

I don't really regret it, I barely even notice that it's their. It means absolutely nothing to me. I basically picked out some random picture off the wall just to see what the pain was like. I think I was about 16 at the time. It's not visible. |

We really are living in two different worlds. lol, it's not a taste test. :P They test for illegal drug use. Some companies have a no tobacco policy, and will test for that as well, but this one was just for illegal drugs. Most employers order them when they're serious about hiring someone. They do it mostly for insurance purposes. I think Ireland and America are just SO different. We have different ways of doing things and what you're describing just WOULDN'T happen here. The only job really that would test for illegal drugs would be the ARMY in which they do RANDOM tests, but that's it really. Since I've joined this site, I am learning SO much... |

I agree with everything you're saying. However, I live in Ireland and 98% of the people here on Mingle2 live in the U.S or Canada. I would make the first move (Ok the odd time) but I don't see how anything could develop with me being so far away. I come here just for the forums really, and if anything else were to happen then what will be, will be. But I'm not expecting anything. |

What is UA? At least you were open and honest about your record so I'm sure that will work in your favor. Over here, employers DO NOT have the right to get a background check on anyone. Only the individual can do this. You MUST have this IF you work with children. We call it ''Garda Vetting'' and I have to have this because I work with kids. And it must be renewed every year. |

It's a very sad day for Ireland. We no longer have our independence. How our OWN people could do this to us I will NEVER understand. Damn those STUPID politicians, as per usual they only reveal what little they want us to know. They sold us out, we have lost what little freedom we had. While they line their pockets it's the average folk that are going to suffer, my generation and the next. Complete and utter BULL SCHIT!!
