I said..."men don't know what they want EITHER"...as in...nobody knows what they want...so it's not really a generalization as much as it is a statement of observed fact. That's actually one of the most blatant generalizations of all. Unless, of course, you've spoken with every man on the planet in order to reach your conclusions about what men do or do not know. I would also disagree with your premise that "nobody knows what they want" -- while I would submit that this is true in many cases, the use of the word "nobody" is another overgeneralization not based in any sort of factuality. Right...and now you're being nit picky just to be nit picky and have nothing new or original to say. Am I guilty of generalizations...of course. Dare I say...we all are. There again, I don't spend all day with everyone on earth, so I can't actually say that...now can I? |

Men don't know what they want either...you boys are walking contradictions. Hmmmm....the overgeneralizing is getting a bit thick in here today. Anybody have a machete? In reality, I know exactly what I want. The only problem is that it doesn't exist anymore.... And wouldn't you be generalizing by saying that it doesn't exist anymore? This is one of those songs that never end... Apples and oranges. Stegosauruses don't exist anymore. I don't see that as overgeneralizing, I just see that as acknowledging the (admittedly subjectively-based) fact that I've never seen one. Generalizing is when you lump a bunch of potentially-dissimilar things ("Why are all men pigs?" "Why do all women lie?" and threads of that nature) into one category. I'm talking about one thing (i.e., what I would like to find) and then stating that, as far as I can tell, this particular thing no longer exists. I see no way this could be considered "generalizing." Unless you're looking for a specific person then it is generalizing. What are you looking for? Unless it's something SO specific that only ONE person could fit the bill...then it is generalizing. |

And please...spare me how you know what you want...cause it's what everyone wants... Relationships are like pizza... They're all basically the same... Round. Crust. Pizza Sauce. Cheese. Where they start to differ are the toppings...and where I might want mushrooms, black olives, and onions...you might want pepperoni and anchovies. But maybe that's what you want today...but tomorrow you don't really want anchovies anymore, but would rather have extra cheese. Wants and desires are fluid...they change as we change. And I'd like to think that we change everyday. Who I am today is not who I was yesterday and not who I will be tomorrow. |

I can generalize but you can't, that's how it sounds to me. We all do it intentionally or not. The point was why was he worrying about some 80/20 factoid instead of trying to learn something about women and relationships. No one actually KNOWS what they want. It's like being in line at the biggest buffet and starving. You don't want to make the wrong choice...but on the other hand...that mac and cheese looks amazing. |

My issue is i meet women who don't know what they hell they want... Which is in itself so annoying... WHAT THE HELL DO YOU WOMEN WANT!?!?!?!?!?! 
Honestly? We want men to figure out what THEY want. We can't be curvy and natural and look like the girls in Playboy. We can't be successful bread winners and stay at home and raise your children while making you dinner and fluffing your slippers. We can't be innocent school girls and strippers...wait...yes we can. HAHAHAHAH Regardless...we know what we want...we want you to be mindreaders. Duh. Hell, Its more sexy anyway to find a woman with a brain then a D sized bust, but that mindreader thing totally F*cks up my head lol... Hey...you guys wanted to know what we wanted.
