*GASP* A politician that cheated on his wife!!

Like Clinton, FDR, JFK, etc. you mean???

I really don't care. He's married now and I care more for what he will accomplish.

Bush didn't cheat, that got HIM real far, eh?? NOT! He is hated for being a faithful husband, and Clinton is worshiped for being a male w&ore!

Bah!

Geesh, folks have McCain DEAD already!

I think it was a good choice as both are bipartison..and just MAYBE something will be accomplished.

A true conservative leaves issues such as abortion to each state, as it should be. Same for gay unions/marriages.

Example of Universal Healthcare at it's best! Ugh!

I ran across this lil tidbid as to Obama/Biden, and it pretty much sums up the sneakiness of the Dems (like their "tabled" Charlie Rangel "Draft Bill":
==========
In case you’ve forgotten, there is a bill in the Senate, INTRODUCED BY SENATOR BARACK OBAMA, that will require the U.S. to move towards global governance and for its citizens to pay a GLOBAL TAX.

While I’m sure that some bloggers here on Townhall are aware of this bill and its fast track handling, I doubt that the unwashed masses are aware of this abomination. I remember uproar surrounding the bill earlier in the year, but it’s gone practically silent until now. I stumbled onto the current status last night and found myself worrying about it as I fell asleep and thinking about it again this morning. Maybe I’ve been asleep at the wheel for the last couple of months, but where’s the uproar? Did I miss it? The silence is deafening.

The House has already passed the bill (by a voice vote so there will be no record of an individual’s vote). And Sen. Joe Biden has rushed the bill through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee with another voice vote and without any hearings. It is now ready for a full Senate vote. Harry Reid just has to schedule it.

Senate bill S.2433, called The Global Poverty Act of 2007, has 23 sponsors and, “Directs the President, through the Secretary of State, to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the U.S. foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide who live on less than $1 per day.”

Therein lies the “kicker.” The part about achieving the U.N. Millennium Goal (now called the Millennium Declaration) would also commit the U.S. to sign onto many dangerous treaties, including the International Criminal Court, the Kyoto Protocol, licensing of what the U.N. calls the “global commons,” meaning fees (to the UN) for the use of air, water, and natural resources (The Law of the Sea Treaty fits this category), and there is more just as bad.

Obama’s bill would commit the United States to spending 0.7 percent of our Gross National Product (GNP) on additional foreign aid over 13 years – on top the amount we already spend.

We spent a total of $122.8 billion of foreign aid provided by Americans in 2005 (the most current data available), $95.5 billion, or 79 percent, came from private foundations, corporations, voluntary organizations, universities, religious organizations and individuals, says the annual Index of Global Philanthropy. Source: America.gov

The 0.7 percent of GNP committed to in the bill, spread out over the required 13 years amounts to $845 Billion dollars, not including the aid that is already being spent.

WTF? WTF?

And that’s not all, Obama’s Global Poverty Act specifically refers to the U.N. Millennium Goals as its guide and the 0.7 percent of GNP is taken right out of the U.N. documents. At the Millennium Summit in 2000 (attended by Bill Clinton), the U.N. set out to change some of the original language to tone down the rhetoric to sound more like suggestions and ideas than rules and regulations.

No matter; a release from the Obama Senate office about the bill declares, “In 2000, the U.S. joined more than 180 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit and vowed to reduce global poverty by 2015. We are halfway towards this deadline, and it is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day.” They readily admit to backing the UN's Millennium Goals.

The bill defines the term “Millennium Development Goals” (MDG) as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, General Assembly Resolution 55/2 (2000). These goals call for “the eradication of poverty by redistribution of wealth and land” among other things. Strict adherence to the MGDs would leave little discretion for the U.S. to distribute or withhold aid based on country performance or political objectives.

At the risk of sounding like a conspiracy proponent, I’ve read a bunch of different takes on Obama’s bill and the U.N.’s MDGs and I don’t see how I could have misinterpreted what’s been written. If others find that any of my statements are wrong, please let me know – I’ll be glad to correct any misinformation. Absent my misinterpretation, its impact on the U.S. is chilling.

Essentially, if we allow this bill to become law, we’re sacrificing our national sovereignty and setting a dangerous precedent of allowing the United Nations (the U.N.!) to tax Americans. We all know what good stewards of money the U.N. is and how efficiently some of the countries spend the aid they currently get (directly into their politician’s pockets).

This Global Poverty Act is an assault on our sovereignty and our role as the leader of the free world. Is there still any doubt that Obama has global ambitions? Maybe he covets the Supreme Omnipotent Leader of the World job at the U.N.?

He must not be elected President of the United States.

The Global Poverty Act, brought to you by Barack Hussein Obama.
=================
So...we will be taxed to death to pay for crappy Universal Healthcare and THEN taxes by the UN??? I mean come onnnn, what has the UN ever accomplished??? Resolution #3,000,000, totally ignored!!

Imo, we should STOP even paying into the UN and pull out, NOT pay a "global tax"!

Anyone aware of this? Or too busy digging up dirt on each candidate.

How about knowing what you are voting in, folks??

McCain is old, yes, but he is experienced and IS no Bush..they have consistently bumped heads as to the way the war was handled, among other things.

He is his own man, and bipartison..same as Palin. I think it was a good choice.

Biden??? What a joke!! I had no intention of voting for the phony "Obama Camelot Era" anyways, but check out what Universal Healthcare entails..and how awful it is. I, for one, want to choose my doctor and not get the worse of worst, while the rich get the good doctors. I do NOT want the govt. picking my doctor.

AND the Dems have been known to be tax crazy, but now a Global Tax, to be paid to the useless UN???

I don't think so. Forget who is more experienced, the fact that McCain's wife is rich, that Palin's husband is whatever...how about what each candidate proposes to DO??

Change for the sake of change is NOT necessarily good change. And once Obama got in there, he'd be shut down, as his policies are whacky left. The very last thing we need in these times.

And Republicans shut down 3rd parties?? I'm SURE the Dems were thrilled with Lieberman going Independent and winning..and now chummy with McCain.

This country needs a moderate, who can work with "the other side" and accomplish positive, viable change. McCain proposes to fix what exists..makes sense to me! And Palin isn't running for President..McCain is. But, honestly? If I had to choose, I'd pick Palin...IF that were the case, but it's not. McCain isn't "unhealthy"...and is alive and kicking or he wouldn't be running.

I do agree the VP's are important, but am more interested in what each Presidential candidate proposes to do.

Obama is so far whacky left, we'd be a socialist government! And look around...how many socialist countries are thriving. Cubans aren't dying in boats for no reason!

How about learning what these men are proposing to DO, and debating that..instead of which is more experienced?

I'm voting McCain/Palin, as I choose to remain a democratic country and not turn into a socialist country and be beholden to the horrid UN, which accomplishes zilch without us!

Thank you. I'm crying here, as I feel his pain. He lives alone with his "fur family"...loves them more than life itself.

I'm in NY and he's in Texas..and I can't reach him by phone and feel so helpless.

I'm copying as much as I can..he is also not strong, as he needs heart surgery.

This is such a tragedy, and yet I try to remain positive and "invision" his wolf AND he healthy and at home together again.

Thank you, again...I'll come back later. I really appreciate this.

Thanks for this lovely topic all!

I am part Mohawk..although my Grandfather died when I was 12 and my mother knows little of our Native American heritage. She simply tells me "We're American". I love all this and embrace it as very powerful stuff.

My dear friend's wolf was shot through the door of his house, by a coward the other day.

This friend loves all animals, cares for them in a "no kill" facility and is hurting greatly now. The last I heard, his wolf was hanging on and in the hospital. He has many animals at home who need him, too. A bear, the wolf's pregnant mate, another baby wolf, a fox, ravens and crows, an owl, and many cats and dogs.

My friend is also a Native American, a gentle soul, but I fear for him should his wolf die. I am heart sick now, as I cannot reach him.

Can you please give me a prayer to send him, to soothe him at this time...a prayer of hope for his great "old soul" wolf and for him (one of the most incredible people, I've been blessed to call friend).

Thank you!

I think Brady being on his butt 23 times changed him! My fav moments were watching him and Romo screaming like girls "Protect me"!!! I think he'll be a different man this year, at least when facing the Giants..same with Romo!

I'm sick we lost Osi for the year, but just maybe they can talk Stra into coming back. We still have a great defense, as the young guys are stepping to the plate. Tuck is awesome! And you gotta love Pierce..he comes out of nowhere!

IF our team can stay healthy and have no more serious injuries, we have a great opportunity this year!

I was also sad, to see Shockey go to New Orleans, but seeing that new receiver, Hexson, who is a lot like Burress, will be a great addition! If they put them both in, the other team won't know which one the "rocket" will go to!

My not liking Obama has nothing to do with race! It's the same ole "No Plan Dem" thing that bothers me. They throw out the ole "I'll bring change to this country!" and people jump at it, like a fish to bait.

WHAT change?? I, for one, would like to know!

Plus you cannot tell me he sat in front of that racist Rev. Wright and did NOT knod his head in agreement for all that time! I'm not buying it.

He's a cut out doll..with no substance whatsoever.

Oh yeah, he and the wife had it REAL hard...trying to figure out how set up their children's college funds! lmao

How many here can say they have money for college funds?? I have trouble having enough money for gas and food!! And savings? I don't remember when I could actually SAVE money! And I worked 25 yrs as a legal assistant and my ex worked at IBM..and we still struggled!

People today, no longer have the luxury of Mom staying home. Most families can't even survive on two incomes..have to work side jobs.

So, just what we need..more taxes!! The Dems are notorious for taxing us to death! And sorry, but I don't care for my tax dollars going to the care of illegal immigrants. I much prefer that money go to our OWN poor families, in this country legally and working their butts off to survive.

How about the miners? What happened to the promised changes there?? All talk.

We need a President with experience, who won't have to rely solely on his VP and advisors and can actually make decisions on his own.

Unemployment in upstate New York is unbelieveably high! Hillary did NOTHING to help New York State..just used us as a stepping stone.

And so what if McCain married money! How about Kerry? His wife is filthy rich. What does that have to do with how good of a President he will be??

Unfortunately, we don't have a strong 3rd party, which I would be all for. We have a cut out doll, no substance, know nothing candidate vs. an experienced and foreign affair savvy candidate...who won't throw the baby out with the bath water..McCain proposes to fix what exists. Makes sense and will sure cost less!

Read everything you can on both, and skip the far left or far right kooky name calling and blind hatred. We need a moderate, common sense President, to unite this country and I believe McCain can do that. Obama scares me...very much! And not because of his race, but because he hasn't a clue.

How does anyone KNOW what Obama "is planning"?

I haven't heard anything of substance from him, just trying to copy "The Camelot" thing of JFK, not TOO obvious!

Again change is NOT always good change.

Do YOU want the government picking your doctors for you?? The HMO's are bad enough, but Universal Healthcare would be a disaster.

Read two articles yesterday, how elderly people were starved to death in the hospital in England. And my friend has a baby with problems, she has had to wait and wait and now was told "there IS a problem, but you have to wait until October to speak to the doctor." Do you want that here in America??

Not me! And that is what Obama and the Dems want.

And Hillary's idea of "health insurance for all", is the goverment determining who can afford insurance, and then garnisheeing their pay checks, to MAKE them have insurance. Do you want that??

McCain proposes to fix what is in place, go to his website...he breaks it all down, how he's going to do his best to fix the corrupt Medicare and Medicaid systems and make health insurance more affordable. Now that makes sense!

The other proposals mean that the rich will have all the good doctors, and the average joe will be stuck with the worst of the worse doctors. No thank you!

Again, instead of name-calling, know the issues..know what the candidate proposes to do, that is actually viable and not pie in the sky.

Just blind hatred, accomplishes nothing.

And I agree as to religion being okay...only man's interpretation being messed up. That's what I meant about bringing these "end of days" and "mark of beast", etc. religious arguments in politics silly.

Why not debate the issues, what each candidate will attempt to accomplish, instead of who had an affair when? Frankly, I don't care.

JKF is a hero to all..yet he was an infamous womanizer.

I'm more interested in what the candidate proposes to do, to better the economy, to bring a realistic end to the war in Iraq (without just cutting and running...which means those troops died for nothing). The military I've spoken to, support McCain.

No way is Obama ready to run this country! No way!!

We need an experienced man and having military experience and all the foreign relations experience that McCain is a plus to me.

Attacking a man, and taking light the fact that he was tortured is way wrong, imo. And Christians say this??? What is wrong with this picture?

Kooky times, these!

And I so looked forward to my friend, Juan, posting in politics. He is very knowledgeable as to world affairs, history, and is a vet. I'm hoping he'll change his mind...we can all learn a lot from him. I know I did!
