Oh, dumbest thing I heard today...

Customer - "My ISP said it's not an issue on their end, they can see the modem just fine."
Me - "Did they do a valid ping test?"
Customer - "Well, IDK, but my ISP would never lie to me."
Me - "Ok, well from my end, I can't see your modem, if I try to ping it, it says 'destination unreachable' indicating an issue with your connection."
Customer - "I JUST told you, my ISP would never lie to me, you MUST be doing something wrong" *mumbles* "stupid kid" *click*

StrengthFromWithin- if you just want to goof around and 'test the water', many linux distros have 'live CDs' that you can boot up and won't touch your hard drive. Keep in mind that they are running from your optical drive and won't be as fast as if they were on a hdd and are limited on software. But live CDs are a good way for a new guy to shop around.

Perfect examples of this are Knoppix, all the Buntu spins, and several others.

And if you decide to install, these LiveCDs can prove a valuable resource for rescuing an otherwise "hosed" box.

was watching that 9/11 conspiracy last night they say it was a cruise that missile hit the pentagon not a plane....

and the planes that hit the TT where evacuated planes. that where landed somewhere passengers where taken off ...and the TT where rigged to blow the way they fell perfect ...

I believe it, there's a conspiracy site I read once that said JFK had the same thing brought before him, only different target, and to get the whole war on cuba started...

Seems totally plausible to me.

I miss my homie in TX.

I miss my ex, and how happy I was with her, even though I took that for granted and pushed her out of my life.

I miss the days when I was younger and didn't have as much to worry about in life.

I miss the way things were.

=/

Hey, I have an idea...don't speed.

My job is an hour and a half drive from my house, speeding is...
a necessity.

Nice cut and paste but you are supposed to put the link and author on it so you are not plagiarizing others.

As to the post itself.....I and others are tired of those like the author of the OP who believe that all who are not like them are lazy, unethical, immoral, unamerican, etc...

The whole right wing twist on the matter is not truthful nor is it American in any way. It is hatemongering and fearmongering and not healthy for this country.

I'm w/ you on this one...

Viva la socialism!!!

I was watching Aqua Teen to pass the time while I wait for the counter to finish
counting down, because I have to take an online driving course, because I got a ticket for 77 in a 50...

The ticket is due on Friday, I have Court (unrelated) on Thursday, so, I figured it might look good to have this paid off first...

But gfdi, this course sucks... I have to read the lesson, take a quiz, and wait for the count down to finish...

BLAH!

btw - now it's Squidbillies xD
your lucky they let you take course... that is a felony in some states...

30 over is wreckless here, which is a felony, anything under is a civil citation xD

Any one really worth $40?

I just got the free trial version for the Daniusoft DVD Ripper, but I was wondering if in the paid version, are you able to up the speed. It took two hours plus for me to rip DOTD. Came out good though:)

A certain amount of my time each week is spent on both windows and linux machines, so I decided to rip under windows because I figured there would be a *ton* of free software that would do this, and some of that software would be really easy to use.

The best I could find was handbrake, and it was a pain in the *** that failed to rip the DVD perfectly - even after looking up and following detailed instructions online. It took it about an hour to fail to rip the dvd, and I tried many times.

A friend of mine insisted that the linux dvd::rip software was really easy and effective. Its about as easy (or hard) as handbrake, but it worked. The first time. Without consulting any forums.

You might try ripping the DVD to any reasonable format and size, then convert that file (with a different program) to a format more suitable for the Evo. You might even be surprised at how well the Evo handles formats not optimized for the device.

+1 for this method, anything linux is always a +1 from me though, and this is the method i use for my android phone :]

supposedly ghostery an add on for firefox blocks tracking thingies!

Indeed, but those things are built into Chrome, so it's hard to circumvent them,
thouch Chromium, the Open Source version of Chrome, doesn't have the tracker bits.

I use Ghostery, and a few other Add-ons for FF for privacy; that and cookie stealing ;]

yeah im finding alot of nifty protection thingies [yes thats a technical term] on firefox addons

mmhm, I freaking love my FF, and FF Mobile.

FF helps me do Pen-testing at work, I fckn love it xD

(oh, and suuuuure that's a real tech term) :p
