Tommy, "thank you" I'm not a poet but creative writing I just might be able to accomplish. We each have our own gift.
I really like the poems you shape with words. Each morning I sit down with coffee in hand at the computer checking to see if you've posted another. I like poetry that reaches into a person soul and with the mind's eye we are able to form a picture. And you have that gift. |

Precious ~A Mule

Owning a mule was one of the things on my "bucket list" and so now I own a mighty fine mule named Precious.
I never rode the trails with her or her previous owner, an elderly gent, but was told she was a mighty fine mule. Precious was raised by a man, then she was purchased as a two year by an elderly gent who owned her until I purchased her from him as a twelve year old. You might imagine her culture shock when she found herself with a woman handler. I mention this because she appeared to be hard of hearing when I first tried to get her attention. I finally came to the conclusion that she didn't know what to think of a female handler so she tried to ignore me! Mules are smart and she is a mighty fine mule. (to be continued) |

Sparks, I could teach you to operate a lawn tractor. Lessons are free but I'll charge you to mow my lawn.

Put down the glass

Manage Stress A psychologist walked around a room while teaching stress management to an audience. As she raised a glass of water, everyone expected they'd be asked the "half empty or half full" question. Instead, with a smile on her face, she enquired: "How heavy is this glass of water?" Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz. She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, it's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my arm. If I hold it for a day, my arm will feel numb and paralyzed. In each case, the weight of the glass doesn't change, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "The stresses and worries in life are like that glass of water. Think about them for a while and nothing happens. Think about them a bit longer and they begin to hurt. And if you think about them all day long, you will feel paralyzed – incapable of doing anything." Remember to put the glass down. |

Tommy, everyone has a story. Maybe, more folks will come forward to write about everyday experiences. Since this a forum for creative writing I would like to see that.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful story. I will look forward to hearing more about ol' Neddy. |

Precious ~A Mule

Now let me introduce you to Precious. Precious is a twelve year old mule. She is not just any old mule, she is a gaited Fox-trotting mule but none the less she is still a mule. And I have a couple of stories to tell... I wanted to own a mule so now I own a mule. I have horses in my pasture that I can ride but I wanted something a little smaller since I'm advancing in age and have trouble getting on a taller horse. (story to be continued) I'm leaving on vacation so I will tell you about Precious when I return. |

I believe this is one of my all time favorites. Beautiful Minds know when it is time to get rid of all the extra baggage and let them go. People need to learn to do for themselves. |

Great story! In my minds eye I see you and Colm trying to catch a donkey who wasn't sure about the two of you.
I can imagine you and Colm laughing in amusement as Neddy limps from you across the field, most likely to the far side, then turns to look at the two of you. It sounds like there may even be a story to be told about Neddy's elderly owner. I have a couple stories about a mule named Precious that has been a source of amusement and joy to me. Perhaps, that is what I will do. Nothing I like better than listening to a good story. |

Maybe if I could own a house in the woods...I think that would be it. The thing i'd want to do before I die. A place in the woods away from everyone thought you might like. |
