Our feet dipped in the cool crystal clear water
As sunlight warms our backs
Birds fill the air with their sweet song

Slowly our lips touch

A moment later you took my hand
You led me to a shady spot beneath a maple tree
The grass tickling my bare feet
A gentle wind began to blow
You took my hand in yours
What came next took my breath away
You make me the happiest man alive
Darlin' will you marry me?
In stunned silence I nodded
Tears began to flow
He scooped me up in his arms
And caressed my cheek with his finger

The words barely escaped my lips
Before suddenly he was gone
Glancing around I found myself
All alone
In my bed
The pain is almost too much
Everything was only a dream

Tired of being angry
I try to laugh
To dream of happier times
Before our lives were filled with fear
Overstuffed with teary goodbyes
And nervous waiting
Even in a dream world
A cloud of sadness hangs low in the sky
Every glance brought visions of them
Loved ones who bravely fell into the arms
Of the angel of death
A pang of longing returns
The faces so clear
Memories so vivid
They were almost tangible
Strong emotions began to stir
Around every corner were faces of the past
Gone forever but never forgotten
Tired of being angry I drown out the news
Month after moth
A flag draped casket is seen
Surrounded by family and dear friends
This is not how life in America is supposed to be
It's hard to believe how easily some forget
The price so often paid to keep us free

now i dont know how many of yall remember but when i first joined i posted a story that was written about my best friend eric and i...probably no one remembers because i've switched names but anyway last night he attempted to take his own life right now hes in the hospital and not doing well so could you all keep him in your thoughts and prayers? it would be greatly appreciated

Rain began falling from a pale gray sky
A chilly wind blew the bare branches to and frow
It seemed even in the heavens there was despair
Not half as much as in my soul
I've had to say goodbye too many times
This heart is scarred by death and fear
Will today bring yet another scar?
The eerie silence filling the house
Tells me something just isn't right
Friends say it's probably nothing
They weren't there to hear the panicked begging
Desprately trying to help you hold on
They did not see the tears cascading down my cheeks
As you slipped slowly into a drunken haze
For so long you have been the one
To fill me with hope, happiness and security

Today his life on this earth will end

Innocent raindrops fell from the sky
Almost as if they were apologetic tears
I can almost hear someone say
It was just their time- I'm sorry
I guess innocent little raindrops
Aren't so innocent after all...
