I was at Toys R Us this afternoon and Maddy popped in my head sooo many times as I walked around and was looking at all the musical and light up toys! All the same toys Christopher loves. flowerforyou

That is what my daughter and I were talking today. So fun!flowerforyou

I love buying toys for Christopher cause they are just fun. I think I play with them more than he does. laugh

For sure! oops did I say that!slaphead

My brother says thats why we have kids, so we can play with all of their toys! Go figure, he has 4 kids. lol

I have been on here since three o-clock and still haven't found the love of my life. I think I am going to curl up on the couch and cry now.

I've been here since 2007, talk about patience! LOL

A decision like this demands a little research into how the job market sits and what fields are clicking during these tough times. You also should know about what the job prospects look like after you graduate from school. Also, you should decide whether you want to attend a college, university, or a trade school. A beautiful choice you have made. Make it work in your favor. Someone out here knows something. Seek out that knowledge and work it in your favor. Good luck in your quest and much success.

Thanks, I am thinking that is what the orientation is all about in January that I am required to attend for my unemployment. They should be able to help.

you will have the ability to adjust in most instances. nursing or
related is a much more stable job than massage therapy and there
are many scholarships available. there is a nurse shortage.

Very true. I am hoping with the orientation I have to attend and the list of my ideas and all the questions I am coming up with, that I'll be able to talk to someone and get the help I need. They should be able to direct me and get me on the right track. flowerforyou

I am thinking that you have no idea what a gooch is. You could earn ferrarri money by rubbing them!

"The piece of skin connecting the scrotum and testes to the poop chute. The gooch is also attached to the bacon strip which is located directly on the undercarriage of the testes."

bacon strip? Lemme see.....

I'll be damned! You're right! See? You already know all the specialty medical terms to specialize in that field. I would pay $100 for 20 minutes!

You were correct, I had no idea what a gooch was. I found that explanation online. I just copied and pasted. laugh laugh laugh laugh

As a health care aid myself I can tell you that although it can be a rewarding career it can also be very physically demanding and emotionally straining. You have to be made out of some tough stuff to cope some days espacially when someone passes on.

I have been a single mom to a child with a terminal genetic disorder for several years. He has a host of medical issues - behavior issues, kidney problems, visual impairment, seizures, scoliosis, delayed walking, non verbal, autism, etc. I am a very strong person, I love helping people and know that is something I'd be very good at.

I am really getting confused now that I have decided to go back to school while unemployed. The more I think about it, the more I am confused as to what I want to go for. At first I was clear that it was massage therapy, but now I am leaning towards home health aide, medical assisting, medical transcription or office administration.

I am so afraid I'll go for the wrong thing and not be happy, this is my only chance to get it right and to get it right the first time around.

You were so sure about massage therapy...what made you change your mind and go towards to medical profession? massage therapy because you have some talent in it and would love and enjoy doing or medical profession or office administration because it pays well.

I am still leaning very heavily towards massage therapy. I think that will always be at the top or close to the top of my list. Of course I need a good salary, but I want something I am passionate about and massage therapy is my passion and has been for several years.

I was a medical asst for a long time and loved it...I actually applied for a different position, they told me that I was overqualified for that and offered me the med asst.. I got on the job training which for me is easier than book learning..After leaving that job (because I moved out of state) I took a phlebotomy course and passed with good grades..I liked the patient contact in my work...flowerforyou

Congrats on your success!flowerforyou I want to help people versus sitting behind a desk on my butt all day long. Watching all the medical issues my son has makes me want to help people.

NJ Unemployment set up an appt for me to attend a reemployment orientation session. I have to go in January. I should be able to have a list of ideas by then, they will actually help me with funding and help me find local schools to apply to.

Hang in there and good luck!! flowerforyou

Thanks flowerforyou flowerforyou

Diversify and specialize. This will enable you to charge retarded amounts per diem or hourly.

Think about it. Gooch masseuse...it is a wide open market. You would be a pioneer of the field and they would make statues of you.

I would definitely need to get in shape before doing massages full time. No one wants a fat massage therapist. I have the big boobs but need a smaller butt and waist. laugh laugh

is there something specific that really gets your attention

Massage therapy is what I am leaning towards. Its always been a passion of mine. Helping to relax people, soft music playing, candles lit, lights off, helping them to just forget the world for an hour.

A good friend of mine is a massage therapist. Shes in her 50's and got this certification not long ago.

It was a challenge, and a rewarding discovery. Shes a former factory gal, who never thought of herself as smart.

Ive overheard her tell people 'if I can do it you can do it'...but I know how smart she is. I think you have much better focus etc., like the above posters point out. You will probably do very well, and wonder what all the worry was over.

Thanks for that. I have a couple local schools that I am going to call. I really think that is what I want to do.
