So...I was making meatloaf for dinner tonight & giving it the obligatory spanking...when I notice that I spanked it in sets of threes... Then I got to thinkin' that I do a lot of things in sets of threes... Now I'm wondering if this is an OCD??? biggrin

Do you have any OCD's?

Heh, that's what I'm having for supper tonight too.

I don't think I really have any OCDs though.

Put your mouse under the sleep mode in the "Turn Off, Restart, Sleep" screen and press shift at the same time the sleep mode will turned into Hibernate option.

Like a previous person said if your connected to the internet directly any programs trying or just checking for updates can re awake your PC and also if your BIOS under the Power Options you may have them set up to wake up for all the different option (Wake Up LAN, Keyboard, Mouse and +)

Alrighty.

So....

I never found the shift feature you mentioned in the start menu.

But...

I did look under the Power Options in the start menu. I didn't see anything to change what may wake up the computer.

However...

I did find an option to change exactly what the sleep button does and switched that from sleep to hibernate.

I haven't tested it quite yet and I'm not exactly sure what the difference is between sleep and hibernate. Is hibernation still going to keep my programs open and allow for quick startup when I get ready to go again? Any other differences I might wanna know about?

I've had some of my original outgoing e mails get caught up in the spam filter. I was wondering if replies ever do too.

Where you rated as a rationlist? I see that many who take this test become rationists.

Are there any options other than optimist and rationalist?

The description of rationalism seems kinda strong and very one sided. I would think I fall somewhere in between, leaning towards rationalinsm, but not totally discrediting optimism, fate, the supernatural, and the simply unexplainable.

Give us some more info please. What brand and model of computer, what OS (which version of windows or OSX) and is it current on updates?

If you are working on big projects, I would assume that you would have the current updates, but in the case of XP, if you don't have at least SP1, sleep mode is not available, and using the function from your keyboard, would only hibernate it for about 10-30 minutes.
There is also the possibility that if any of your projects are connected to the internet for resources or updates, the BIOS might have the LAN set to wake up the computer in that event.
However, the above question is legitimate, we do need at least some basic info on your OS and system to be able to give you proper advice.

OK, program updates, good theory, but wouldn't there be some sort of updating notification window or something?

It does have a sleep option under the start menu, but not hibernate. I'm about to go bed now and I'll try putting it down that way tonight instead of the sleep button on the keyboard. Will letcha know what happens tomorrow.

System Info:

- HP Media Center m8300f
- Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit w/ Service Pack 1...and I believe current on all other updates
- AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6000+ 3.0 GHz
- 3.0 GB RAM
- 640 GB Hard Drive
- some kind of NVidia 512 MB video card...forgot exactly what kind...it's aftermarket.

um....anything else you need? I'll be happy to provide it.

...or other specifications can be found here:

Everything is stock except for the video card upgrade.

Thanks. drinker

I am a Rationalist

67 Optimism - Higher than 69% of my peers
46 Faith - Higher than 30% of my peers
71 Logic - Higher than 82% of my peers

Rationalism is the most scientific of the philosophies. No matter how bizarre something may seem, rationalists will always discount the supernatural. To them, there is no such thing as a mystical, otherworldly explanation for anything, no exceptions. Everything, no matter how strange, can be proven through science sooner or later. If something is genuine, there is an explanation for it.

Famous rationalists include: Baruch Spinoza.

The opposite of Rationalism is Existentialism.

That was cool! Went to the home page and saw The Thinker!

You've always got some great threads smiless! drinker

I personally find it very comforting to know that if I'm doomed to walk the earth as one of the undead there is still hope for a meaningful relationship.

I taught high school tech for a while. "My boys" made me an honorary member of the Post Falls Zombie Hunting Club. I was the only girl AND the only adult. I felt supar specil!

Then, a while after I left the school, someone hacked the freeway sign to make it read "Beware the Zombie Apocolypse!"

I was the TECH teacher...

I like to think my boys were saying hi. bigsmile

I wonder how Sarah "just joined" Zoosk every other day. How long will it be before it changes to, "Sarah joined Zoosk a little while ago. She's still looking. You should give her a holler." And how many people she lives 3.5 miles from.

Well, she's 2.5 miles from me, and I live in Spokane. You? laugh

So that would mean there's a Spokane, GA...6 miles from Atlanta. huh

How come I never heard of it?

Worrying about hangnails increases the likelyhood of getting hangnails too.

So you worry alot?
So not dating materiallaugh

Just keeping it light. Worrying about worrying increases your chances about worrying 100%.

laugh laugh Now I'm worried that you're going to worry, which increases my worry load twofold, then that makes me worry about myself more. Then there is my other friends.

Got a reliable source on this info?

Of course, I wouldn't be as irresponsible as to post something with nothing to base it on.

Name of source? Link? Something?

Those are called friends with benefits...but hey, at least they're not strange men looking just for intimate encounters.
