How you choose to dress should strictly be between you and God...and no one else.

Everything should be between you and God.

Including how you define lust. bigsmile

I've been going to a friend's Church. They are UPC. My friend told me I needed to wear a long skirt. I don't wear short skirts anyway, but I like wearing dress pants. Their reasoning is that men will lust if you wear pants.

I say if a man is going to lust it doesn't matter how much clothes a woman puts on? What do you think?

there are quite a few religions like this. I personally disagree. God accepts me for who I am. I hopefully make him happy just by showing up to worship him at church. No matter what I dress like It's still me. When I'm at church my mind is with God. It is not lusting after the women around me.

I believe one doesn't have to do anything to be loved by God! If you have lust, love, anger, happiness, being sad are all emotions we share at times.

I think just the fact that you made it this far is a great thing!

Here is a gift for everyone! Enjoy it!

I think you should always wear what you think it appropriate. And I don't think that dress creates lust... these points have already been well made so I will leave those at what has already been posted.

But I have to say, even though these are my opinions I also believe that church's have a right to request attendees conform to what they believe to be appropriate dress and behavior.

I have muslim friends who cover their hair. I do not cover my hair. However, out of respect for their traditions, when I visited a mosque I covered my head. It is their place of worship. I have to respect their request when I am their guest. If I don't wish to do so I don't have to go there.

It's my choice to go to their place of worship. It's also my choice to do so in a manner that is consistent with what they believe is respectful. I have been places where I was asked to take my shoes off, cover my hair, cover my arms and legs, etc. I cannot wear skirts as short to work as I have been known to do to a club.

Sometimes "rules" of dress are silly. I actually think any rule that doesn't have to do with not harming others is superfluous. And no, you don't have to follow their rules. But if you are a guest who is trying to be open to their beliefs are you showing that by refusing to dress in the manner they request?

Peace. flowerforyou

the kind od clothing somebody wears does not have to do anything with the relationship this person has with God.
And with regard man's lust i'd say it always going to happen even if a woman is covered from head to toe. Another thing as i've always said i believe in the equality of the sexes, so lust can also comes from a woman as well as from a man.
I believe churches that have a dress code for women, for the fact of the lust they may generate in men, are sexist and fundamentalist. Concepts which don't have anything to do with christianism.

WTH?

Ummmm so if they say a red hat turns a man on... don't wear one?

If your hair is long, short, purple, green, orange, it may turn a man on, so you are going to have to do something different???

Of course it is you silly girl.

Nations all fall eventually. The US may fall sooner than people think. I hope it doesn't fall before I die. I just don't want to deal with it right now.

Just give me another 20 or 30 years. I'll surely be gone by then.

Or maybe I just need a couple more minutes. :Wheeze! cough! gasp!: :sick

If you're a woman, men will lust after you. If you're hot, men will lust after you. If you're not fat, men will lust after you. If you are fat, men will lust after you. Hell some people have fetishes with certain cloths. Lets said a huge thick coat! Why worry about what other people will do when you have a plank in your eye?

i See what you wear should be respectful depending on the situation or where you are at. So i would agree with anoasis it is your choice whether you go thier or not so you should abide with code of conduct you might say. Think of it as any of our houses thier are certain things we will not put up with..Shalom..Miles

some men(and women)are just lustful, and nothing is going to affect that much. but the reasoning is that close fitting, short skirts does more to encourage lustful thoughts, and is a general distraction-taking attention from the service, and putting it on individuals- in a setting such as a church.

lust has its own particular definition.
now you're deciding to interpret the definitions of already defined words?!
...come on...
i think you more enjoy just being contrary and divisive than slightly genuine.

You think I'm liberal with the definitions? You should see the Christians posting in the other thread. They have stripper poles in their bedrooms and their praising God whilst engaging in oral sex. “Oh my God! Oh my God!” laugh

If you had a clue about how I live you think I’m a saint compared with the way many Christians behave. bigsmile

IT'S CALLED RESPECT PEOPLE!

i know there isn't much around these days so it's hard to get the gist of it...but lets try shall we?

i you invite me to visit your home, i am going to show up with respect. which means i will use manners. i will not stroll in acting like your house is my house. if you don't smoke in your home, i will also respect your home by not smoking in your home.
if you do not drink, i will not drink myself into a rude stupor in your home. i will not dress in manner that brings the pole into your living room, for your kids and spouse to be exposed and perhaps uncomfortable. if you say grace over your meal, and i am not a believer as you are, i will sit respectfully, and let you say grace without invoking supreme court rulings.

RESPECT. when you go into someone elses home/space, you act right. if you went into a buddhist temple in nepal, you would do it the way the lama's instruct you to do it.
it's the same respect that should be afforded any other church or place of worship.
