Topic: Lust | |

I've been going to a friend's Church. They are UPC. My friend told me I needed to wear a long skirt. I don't wear short skirts anyway, but I like wearing dress pants. Their reasoning is that men will lust if you wear pants.
I say if a man is going to lust it doesn't matter how much clothes a woman puts on? What do you think? |

I took a friend of mine to my Church and he kept moving closer to me. I raise my hands in Church. He was invading my space. He says God brought me to him He is 60! and has proposed to me. I'm sorry I love him as a friend, but I do not need a Dad. |

I guess that all depends on how you define lust. Personally I don't believe that the normal spontaneous innate reaction between genders constitutes lust. To me, lust implies much more than that. This all depends on who's doing the finger-pointing I suppose. I don't believe that God finger-points the way nosey people do. I've never felt innately guilty about appreciating the beauty of a woman's flesh. So for me it's not sin. It's only a sin for those who have perverted minds. That's my take on that. |

Appreciating a woman's beauty is far different than lust. Lust would be undressing a woman with your eyes....wanting to go to bed with her. |

I think that any person that is treating one like an object, in any regard, ought to be distanced from oneself.
Lust is what one wants from another, not what one wants to give toi another. There is no love in taking, but much love in giving. Perhaps they are too unstable to know the real person in their midst without filtering their own shortcomings. How such a setting would be of benefit would be suspect to me. JMO |

If you wear pants or a skirt? Also, don't eat bananas, ice cream cones, or other phallic shaped foods. Let's keep the lustin' to a minimum folks. Mmmmkay and I thought Baptists were nuts.

whiteboy:
Agreed... Why should a woman modify her dress(which was ok to begin with) to appease one who is doing wrong in the churches eyes? Whazzup? Long time, no see... wouldee: Well put... Lust takes, for the benefit of the one taking... love gives, for the benefit of the one who is loved... |

I disagree. That's a perfectly natural innate response. Nothing sinful in that. |

It is not a church's place to tell you how to dress.
That type of church becomes legalistic and controlling, and puts you under spiritual bondage. I've known UPC's to be very legalistic like that. Go instead, to a church where the freedom of the Lord is....to worship in spirt and truth..and freedom...not bondage to the letter of the law. Nondenominational spirit filled churches are where I like to go for worship......the love of God and the Holy Spirit usually flows freely there, without judgment on how you dress, for instance . How you choose to dress should strictly be between you and God...and no one else. |

Some churches just like to use the Bible to keep women on the meeker side... as the Bible states, quite often...
I would not listen to that either... Let's all just pick and choose which parts we believe are worth listening to and following... |
