There should not be forced prayers in goverment schools. If there is a private school who endorses a certain god, for example a dogwood tree,Then that private school is different entity, than a goveremnt school. That particular school has a right to pray to any god they choose to believe in.
I for one do not believe that prayer or the pledge of allegiance should be forced on any child. It should be their choice.
I wouldnt want a gay teacher telling my child to bow their head in prayer. For the god of the gays and my God is two different entities. The gay teachers should be allowed to pray to their god, ye they shouldnt force my child to bow his or her head in respect to a god that they do not aknowledge.
As far as pledge of allegiance, this is not one nation under one solitary god, this is polythiestic nation with many gods that are being worship.
It is offenensive to say one nation under God when we all do not observe the same God.

the amendment was never to allow prayer to to banished nor forced in shools. Instead it is something permitted it the child chooses to participate in it.

ok what weird schools are you sending your children to where they force them to say or not to say the Pledge.

even if it WERE true that the pledge is forced and my child or I didn't believe in it...i assure you my son wouldn't have to say it.

I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature.
Thomas Jefferson

I have recently been examining all the known superstitions of the world, and do not find in our particular superstition (Christianity) one redeeming feature. They are all alike founded on fables and mythology.
Thomas Jefferson

It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Thats what the amendment says. It doesn't really say separation between church and state at all. To me that says they wont make a law to have a national religion and they won't make any laws that wont let you exercise your religion.

Thus if they made a law that said kids can't pray in schools they would be violating the first amendment.

I have agreed with that the whole time...as well as not forcing those who don't want to. Still trying to figure out what schools force kids to though. Unless you are at a prviate CHRISTIAN school...you can't be forced
