Topic: Firefighters setting fires???

The little unincorporated area where i live has a volunteer fire department. Five of those firefighters and two others have been charged with arson. This started with a string of brush fires a few months ago, This will boggle your mind....recently several structural fires and brush fires were purposely set by these people...the reason you ask? so they could rush to the fires in their new fire truck....noway what got them caught? two weeks ago they asked a land owner, if they could set fire to an old house on the property for practice. He told them no, and a few days later they set it on fire anyway. when the land owner complained to the sheriffs office, the 911 tapes were checked, the call came from one of the firefighters cell phone. researching it further, they found that all of the recent fires were called in by firefighters. Up until this point...this was reported by Walb news in Albany Ga.

The new fire truck was bought by the county, what happened to the old one? It was called to a brush fire, where it ran out of gas, they all pile in a volunteers truck to go get gas...the fire truck burned. That call also, was phoned in by a firefighter.

What is so far unsubstantiated, is this...
according to locals, there is also an investigation into an insurance scam.

This equates, (imo) to a team of doctors poisoning a patient for money. Whats sad, is i know some of these people, I can't believe they did this, but they have admitted to setting the fires.

Lindyy says:

WELL, Mark, what can I say? May I ask the REAL intent of your post?

You all know that my son is a VOLUNTEER FIREMAN.

So, may I pose the question to you again? What is the REAL intent of your thread?

Be my guest, please, and bash all firemen throughout the United States. They are such horrible creatures, you know.

But, Mark, mark my words, YOU will be the first one screaming your head off if they do not show up quick enough to suit YOUR demands.

Oh, and you say it is a VOLUNTEER firedepartment. HOW MUCH DO YOU, MARK, DONATE TO THE VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT???

A very cheap shot at the people that risk their lives to save others. Very cheap.

Lindyy

OH, P.S. where is your proof of all of this so I may read?

what is this all about, Lindyy?

why are you so upset?

i don't know you, or your Son,

but i don't sense any underlying motive from Mark...

except to expose a problem going on in his location...

i don't see him pointing fingers at anyone in particular...

so,

i'm just wondering why you are taking this so personal?

PTL, just plain PTL. I have put it in God's hands.

Certain types of people are ALWAYS trying to find ways to bash and belittle those who serve others. Perhaps it is because they themselves lack the courage to do so.

Therefore, I alone will stand up for our loved ones who sacrifice their lives:

"John 15:13
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends."

That is what my son and all the other "life savers" do in their course of serving mankind.

mark, it's definitely sad when things like this happen...there are bad apples in EVERY field. teachers who sleep with their students, cops who set people up, doctors who murder...

could this be what you referred to, mark?

If you will read the last link Lori posted you will see that the information i provided is correct, i just withheld the persons names out of respect. I also know the investigators and the people of this community are in turmoil.

Wow, talk about people who take things to a whole nuther level???noway

I read and reread the OP and no where in the whole post is anyone bashing firefighters in general. They are only addressing the ones who are talked about that seem to be having a problem or something.

Oh, my son is not a 'full fledged'? MY DEAR, MY SON RISKS HIS LIFE EVERY TIME HE GOES ON A CALL, AND GETS PAID NOTHING, NOTHING, NOTHING!!!!!!

I would just love to see the op of this face my son's fire department and throw this in their face. CHEAP.

There is a real intent behind this post. And, not a very nice one.

Lindyy

That is a sad commentatory, but the scenario you described is rare. In the area where I live, most firefighters are volunteer and do not get paid. Furthermore, they risk their lives for you, me and everyone else on this site. So, in lieu of complaining about the few bad apples, we would be better off praising the majority. There was a fire in my area a few years ago, and if it had not been for those brave men, I could have either lost my home or had some serious damage to it. Therefore, all I can do is praise firefighters.

Bad things happen...and they are perpetrated by people, sometimes because they are "bad" other times they are compelled to do so for reasons outsiders will never truly understand.
I am bothered by this trend of "lets not talk about the bad, lets only praise the good".
Its the classic story of the elephant in the living room, everyone knows its there but avoids talking about it and just lives with it. In my opinion the rotten apples need to be exposed, and then gotten rid of before they spoil the good...

this really happens more often than one would think

california had an ARSON INSPECTOR that was responsible

for a lot of fires

he made the court tv channel (now tru tv)

yes it is a shame those paid to protect

turn out to be the perc

real shame

this is in no way a slame to any true firefighters
there are many good people out there trying to help others
after all i was a fifrefighter/emt b4 it was cool almost 15 yrs

it is a shame the few but the majority in a bad light

This isn't new- there have been a couple of cases where firefighters and arson investigators have been closet arsonists, with the most serious one being the one that adj mentioned.

Not too many people know this about firefighters, but they're ALL closet pyros. They wouldn't be so 'passionate' about fighting fires otherwise.

Happened in Utah, Wyoming, California, Washington (state). Not unheard of, why become a volunteer firefighter if not to be a "hero". Don't get me wrong there a lot more good volunteer firefighters than there are bad.

i don't think anyone is saying that the majority or even close to that of them are bad, just that it's not an uncommon thing.

K;moofooga.I think ur taking this 2 a entirely unacceptable level.alright.This comment is totally ridiculous & unsubstantiated. To the best of my knowledge no such info.exists on record nor have I seen it documented anywhere in psych.textbooks.These men & women who serve in this profession are some of most honorable & bravest human beings U will ever know. They protect & save lives & personal loss of property in a highly professional manner and should never be stereotyped in this fashion.U have bad apples in all professions,so should we batter & disgrace all these occupations?Let's be realistic huh, please.I'm willing 2 bet U weren't making these absurd notions the day the twin towers fell in N.Y.on 9/11.They raced into them bldg.'s knowing full well they may never exit it.Is there a more unselfish & noble act than this?I think not. Before I close let me share something w/U.I lost a very dear friend in 1987 in my city. This was a day our city wept. This young firefighter Mark was only 24yrs.old w/a wife a 2 children. They responded 2 a 3 alarm blaze @ a mill complex that works w/dyes & chemicals. They did not have some of the high-tech gear & gadgets they have today.Well this death trap had no windows or ventilation. At the time they had no florescent arrows on the hoses like we have today.Well there was 0 line of sight in a fully engulfed environment. They attempted a massive search regardless 4 workers who had not made it out.Well his air tank depleted so he went 2 the floor searching frantically 4 a doorway. He died 3 steps from the door frame.Myself nor the city will ever forget that day I can assure U.So sad.I miss my friend very much:cry:So please let's keep this thread on a honorable level.May he rest in peace & all of his comrades who have fallen in the line of duty. Our undying love & respect 4ever.:heart:Godspeed!CyPoet:smile:
