at the other store, a young kid called me ma'am to help him reach something. i had to look around to see who he was talking to
I don't understand this! I say "Ma'am" fairly often and once in a while I get the "How old do I look to you?!?" response. Well lady you're older than six or eight aren't you?? Then I'm not going to say "You're welcome little lady" !! |

Its just a door, why does everyone make such a big deal about? I open doors for women all the time, the less experience they get with from opening them, the better my chance of them not running away. JK JK

it was more of her attitude. like it was my job. i've had people give a small smile or just nod at me for things, but at least that's not rude... speaking of ... don't you hate people that stare????

I think that before anyone leaves school they should have to take a class on common curtesy. I work in a resturant and it amazes me how many people dont get off their phone to order, let alone acknowledge that I even said anything to them in greeting. Then of course there is door opening, please and thank you's, etc that you just dont seem to see as much anymore. Its really sad that its almost abnormal when someone is curtious to you.

Whenever I hold the door for someone and they don't acknowledge me, I just look at them and say, "Don't worry......I will be a gentleman and hold this for you". Makes them turn around and see that I am not a gentleman and almost always makes them say thank you. Unless they are too embarassed.
