Yes, discussion would be great - not criticism of beliefs.

Lindy,

Why are you being insulting with "I claim to be a Christain"?

I will encourage abstinence. But..I do not have blinders on as to what teenagers are like. One cannot be with their teenager 24/7. We hope and pray that the foundation that we laid for them will be strong enough to withhandle peer pressure and hormones. But...I wouldn't want any child to get diseases (and HIV kills) and/or pregnant if they make the wrong choices.

That is not being un-Christian-like. It is being caring.

The last time I checked, Christian-like behavior included being caring, compassionate and being alturistic and kind.

Insulting? My text sure was taken out of context. GOD also very explicitly desibes His position on sex.

If you do not like God's word and how He commands us to live, go tell HIM. I would love to hear what he says to you.

Lindyy

If I misunderstood you, I apologize.

Right now, you are twisting what I have said. I never once said I do not like God's word.

I don't know how you picked yourself to judge people on how much of a Christian they are and if they suit your standards.

My church's mission statement is: To nuture intimate relationships with our Lord, loving relationships with one another and meaningful relationships with those not yet part of God's family.

Is judging them and talking down to them a way to accomplish that? I think not.

Maybe it's just coincidence that more adolescent girls are having babies. More likely, it's the inevitable result of a raft of foolish policies.

dragon:

this is astounding. adolescent girls haing babies is President Bush's fault? It is his fault they do not have morals, that the do not know how to say "NO" to sex outside of marriage. They do not know how to keep their legs crossed and just not have sex? This is President Bush's fault?

How much of your anti-christian,anti-President Bush propagand do you think the illtelectual world can tolerate?

You are a broken records. You offer no positive input into anything in this world.

The name dragon fits you quite appropriately.

Lindyy...... You state "this is astounding. adolescent girls haing babies is President Bush's fault? It is his fault they do not have morals." Lindyy, what in the world is wrong with you? I thought you were an intelligent woman? Let me explain things to you.

Dragon Lady is to the left. When people are to the left, everything is Bush's fault. I am in my car playing on my computer, because I am tied up in traffic since there is an accident ahead of me. All traffic has come to a hault. Guess who is to blame? President Bush. The weather in my area turned bitter cold today and tomorrow we are going to have snow. Guess who is responsible for this? Bush of course.

Okay Lindyy. Now that I explained things to you, do you understand? Bush is to blame for everything, even that bad dog food we got from China. It is my understanding that Bush slipped into the Chineese factories in the middle of the night and tainted the dog food while Laura stood guard outside. laugh laugh

I think the Church likes to have kids sexualy oppressed as it makes them easier to manipulate. We all see what suppresion of sexuality has done to pastor Ted and any number of catholic priests who have been engaged in homo sex with minors. My own teen years were charged with parking and makeing out in the back seat sneaking out my bedrrom window to sneak in the neighbore girls window etc etc, you get the picture. I recall a nympho girl of my youth who went to church 3 timesa week and her parents were the pillar of the community, she ended up pregnant and had an abortion at 16.....welcome to the real world

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
madman.......

We don't need to hear all the disgusting details of your youth, particularly what sounds like you entering a girl's bedroom and committing rape? Is that what you are saying? Good God! What the hell is wrong with you, sharing something like that with us? I hope they locked you up!

I worked with teens when I lived in Tucson, Arizona. At that time there was a high number of teenage pregnancies and a significant drop-out rate among girls leaving school to have their babies.
What I noticed was that compared to the "sex-education" I received when I was in high-school these kids were clueless. Back then we had access to free birth control and everyone took advantage of it (boys and girls) because it didnt matter what home they came from (ultra conservative to hippie liberals), every teen experimented with sex at some level.
Happens today too except that the information on avoiding pregnancy is not there. Listen up people "just say no" DOESNT WORK!
Another alarming fact, that isnt discussed enough is who is getting these teenage girls pregnant. Very often the fathers are men 4-8 years older than the girls, for example s 16 year-old is impregnated by a 21 year old male..this is not ok...and the numbers of these types of couples is very high.

so everyone criticizes, and even more complain... but what would the forefathers do, I only refer to them because it seems as tho the are still the some of the smartest guys to ever put forth thouht onto paper and actually make a diference.

what is the solution, do we go to the extremes such as the way of the chinese, or let promiscuity and partial birth abortions rule the day side by side with EXTREME religios chastity belts.

be part of the solution not the problem.

personally I dont see a problem with encouraging abstanance(even tho it falls increasingly on deaf ears) while at the same time educating on the causes and effects of unprotected sex.

In the end it comes down to raising responsible young people, and for the most part, as a whole we are still doing ok with that, just cant allow ourselves to become complacent.

Why isn't morality taught in schools anymore? Empathy goes a long way to being part of the solution.

This is the point exactly. I do not care how much "just say no" is taught, kids will be kids. Bush wants abstinance to be the taught instead of preventive measures in case sex happens. People need to take bushie rose colored glassses off and see what is REALLY going on.

The right got into control and all hell has broke loose here in this country. We need to get back to some good solid practices that are known to work.

I am sorry if there is not much positive about the bush administration. It is a sad fact that we all face everyday in this country since he stole the elections to get into office.

Morality is taught at home. Not by words but by action. Parents want to preach but not practice what they preach.

Personally I have no problems with conservatives as long as they keep their beliefs at home where they belong.

I do not want to pray or be exposed to prayer unless I want to and I will go to church if I want that.

I do not want their pro lifer attitudes impossed on me or other women unless the women choose it for themselves.

I do not want their prejudices impossed on me, prejudices by race, sexual orientation, education, etc........

I do not want to hear their fearmongering or warmongering ways in my everday life.

So if they can keep this out of politics and at home where it belongs then I have absolutely no problem with conservatives or the right whichever they prefer.

bigsmile

Well DUH, did you ever figure that maybe we conservatives feel the same way we are tired of having the liberal socialist agenda jammed down our throat, why don't you keep it home. laugh laugh

I am part of the solution. I preach condom usage to any young person who falls in ear shot. Condoms because they are preventative to pregnance but also STDs. I have seen the twenty something girls who contracted AIDS at teenage age. Beautiful young women of all races and backgrounds, young and stupid as we all were but now they can not "fix" it anymore. Condoms need to be available to all and the importance of using them needs to be taught, and repeated and repeated until they get it.

Well I do not consider myself a liberal but it would seem liberals are more for less government morality and more individual morality and I think that would be less imposing to all, wouldn't you think?

I do not call myself left so I am not sure if this applies to me but I will continue to blame on the man that which is his fault either by participation or lack of participation.

He is the worst president in the history of this great country, there is no doubt about that.

what happened to the good old days when condoms were available in the highschool nurses office by the bucket loads? I do admit sex-ed is more of a parent responsibility. But when schools do teach it it should be informative (like any other class) instead of opinion-based.
