I do. A wonderful, caring, loving woman. Isn't that a good reason to move? It is for me.

Im an American by god and Ill die an American!

All the wonderful caring beautiful American women in this country makes that option an unneccessary one!

I'm Canadian and proud of it. She's Aussie and proud of it. Things just clicked and locked. Won't mean I'll be less of a Canuck or her less of an Aussie.

Ummm...for all you "stay in Iraq" advocates...

Is there an exit strategy in there somewhere? Or do we just continue to drift along with this open ended commitment? For maybe 100 years like Mr. McCain says.

I'm listening.

Bring some form of democracy to the people and pull most of our troops out. Will we ever completely leave, most likely not. Kinda like Korea, Germany, Kuwait, etc. We will probably always have a base there. Things have calmed down a lot recently due to our surge, i dont give a crap what anyone says about that. I talk to friends over there now and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. Things are improving. This is a slow process. It takes some patience. Haven't we learned anything from Vietnam? Wars like this, where you deal with insurgents, don't go away over night. I wish it would. I wish i could get my friends back that i lost over there. But i can't. I would love nothing nothing more than to have fellow soldiers return home. But they are over there for a reason.

How long are you willing to stay there?
How many more American lives are you willing to sacrifice?
How much more taxpayer money(that we don't have) are you willing to spend?

As long as the guys on the ground say it will take.

As few as possible.

Money can be saved elsewhere. The government is constantly overspending.

Right now we have a mission. It's up to the leaders on the ground assessing the situation to determine how long and whether it is worth it. Not some suited character sitting in a swival chair.

Open-ended.
That's where we disagree. The Iraqis have had 5 years now to get their stuff together. They're not going to do it unless forced to. We need to start withdrawing immediately to force their hand. Or we will be there forever.

Well considering that they under the influence of baby shrubs brainwashing and unpatriotic banter about patriotism and what that entails, they would be fine with continueing the illegal war in Iraq I am sure.

Hell, he made them believe that bin laden and saddam are the same man, he made them believe that the homeland of terror is Iraq, he made them believe that we are the great saviors from dictators in the world, he made them believe that we are the great democricizers of the world, he made them believe that terror is not a world wide problem and that all terrorists are arabic, he made them believe that a terror action against us by bin laden in Afgan is reason to illegally preemptively strike Iraq for bin laden, etc......

He can surely make them believe that a 100 year war is a worthy cause.

Only intelligent balsy people will be able to resist the brain ray of this mannoway huh

Soldiers are not the dumb robots you seem to think they are. They are taught to think as well as obey orders. As I posted in last post I know of one who has gone back on his own, not ordered back, because he feels that they do make a difference.

thank you Karma...and congrats on the woman:wink:

Iraqi National Forces do not have the numbers or the training to immediately take over. Nor are their police sufficiently trained or in enough numbers to take over.

So you would prefer that the insurgents take over. More civilians die. Rate of child death rise from lack of care. And last but most certainly not least that a new place be left wide open for future terrorists to train in and attack outside targets again.

The key word in my post was "START". Should have emphasized it. Also consider that it will be at least another year before any serious withdrawals would begin. This gives them that much more time to prepare.

The most foolish thing anyone can do from where we are is try to tell our troops how to handle their situation. If our leaders over there suggest we put a time limit then we do. But we do not have enough information to make that call. And anyone from Washington that thinks they do are fools. They are trying though. I know it doesn't seem like it but they are trying. They don't have our equipment, but we are trying to train them. It's hard for them due to the insurgents. Most of the Iraqis that work with us are masked so people can't identify them and kill their families. We lost a bunch of Iraqi National Guard members (that were attached to us) in firefights because they didn't have the proper equipment (meaning armor). The Iraqi police on the other hand are the shadiest group of people i know. Most cannot be trusted. I understand it is frustrating watching form the sidelines though. It's painful seeing that slow-moving ship try to set sail. This i understand. But the men on the ground know best.

i get what you are saying now...sorry. Yeah maybe that would push them a bit. The only problem is that with less troops we would have more violence which would endager more American soldiers. It's a very touchy, complicated, situation.

exam to West Point Cadets.

You are in a dead end valley. The enemy holds the high ground and you are being shelled with artillery fire. You cannot see artillery emplacements to call in air strike. The open end has heavy armor, infantry and threatening to overwhelm your position.

What order do you give?

a. We'll wait for orders from Pentagon.
b. Call air force and have area carpet bombed
c. Order all men to defensive positions at mouth of valley
d. none of above (if so what is correct order?)

d. Carry on Sgt.

Let the guys on ground do their jobs.

why is everyone so narrow minded.... think 3 steps ahead... oh yeah, most people that think just pulling out is the answer know nothing about strategies and tactics. Treat it like a game of chess that you REALLY dont want to get a "checkmate" in. When the leaders on the ground say its hopeless it is hopeless. Until then we need to prevent as much damage as possible. Clumbsy retreats have cost us and others, many, many lives in the past.

Its a damn shame these kids are in Iraq they should be home raising families and nurturing relationships, enjoying there lives in meaningfull ways......wtf are they doing in Iraq? you can spin all the dogma all day long the reality is.we have no right to be there and never did.

I wouldnt have a problem with any of your postings if you didnt write them as supposed fact,,,, in YOUR humble opinion we shouldnt be in iraq, great to know that, in MY humble opinion we should have went many years before we did.

And well, Im 35 now so the kid part was many beers ago. AND being a combat medic for the 101st airborne is a very meaningful life to me just as working in a factory or whatever it is that you do has meaning for you... Im not upset by the if you could send me one comment either, I understand what you meant.

a little humor:

Pu**ies don't like d**ks, because pu**ies get f**ked by d**ks. But d**ks also f**k a$$holes: a$$holes that just want to sh!t on everything. Pu**ies may think they can deal with a$$holes their way. But the only thing that can f**k an a$$hole is a d**k, with some b@lls. The problem with d**ks is: they f**k too much or f**k when it isn't appropriate - and it takes a pu**y to show them that. But sometimes, pu**ies can be so full of sh!t that they become a$$holes themselves... because pu**ies are an inch and half away from a$$ holes. I don't know much about this crazy, crazy world, but I do know this: If you don't let us f**k this a$$hole, we're going to have our d**ks and pu**ies all covered in sh!t! - Team America "World Police"

did my best to censor....but this is very appropriate to some of this conversation. Not to mention its pretty funny.

sorry if it's offensive just let me know quick and i will remove....
