Ummm...for all you "stay in Iraq" advocates...

Is there an exit strategy in there somewhere? Or do we just continue to drift along with this open ended commitment? For maybe 100 years like Mr. McCain says.

I'm listening.

do you have peace now? realy what do you think would happen if we left? we would leave another country devestated and the populaton hateing us for bloweing up there water plants, electrical plants, babyfood factories you name itwe destroyed it......if you got in the way your dead too bad sorry we didnt do it on purpose.well 5 years later we are still there.five years after bush declared mission accomplished now mcain says well maybe in a hundred years or fifty.......meanwhile on the home front....gas over3 bucks a gallon, houseingmarket crashed and burned.....oh I forgot it was Clintons fault........sorry its difficult for me to delude myself.

If the troops do an immediate pull-out now the vacuum would be filled by who ever had the most guns and the most will to use. At this point that would be the insurgents as the Iraqi Forces are not fully prepared to take over. The civilian losses would climb.
Entry into the conflict may have been wrong but once there the best is to support the troops (if not the government) and let them do their jobs.

Bring some form of democracy to the people and pull most of our troops out. Will we ever completely leave, most likely not. Kinda like Korea, Germany, Kuwait, etc. We will probably always have a base there. Things have calmed down a lot recently due to our surge, i dont give a crap what anyone says about that. I talk to friends over there now and it's not nearly as bad as it used to be. Things are improving. This is a slow process. It takes some patience. Haven't we learned anything from Vietnam? Wars like this, where you deal with insurgents, don't go away over night. I wish it would. I wish i could get my friends back that i lost over there. But i can't. I would love nothing nothing more than to have fellow soldiers return home. But they are over there for a reason.

Some insurgents are iraqi freedom fighters. Most are certain clans trying to spread fear in preparation for us pulling out. Most are funded/supplied by Iran/Syria. Why do you think that is? In fact about half of the insurgents we managed to capture were either from Syria, or Iran. CNN can bite me. Or maybe we were just lucky....

How long are you willing to stay there?
How many more American lives are you willing to sacrifice?
How much more taxpayer money(that we don't have) are you willing to spend?

As long as the guys on the ground say it will take.

As few as possible.

Money can be saved elsewhere. The government is constantly overspending.

Right now we have a mission. It's up to the leaders on the ground assessing the situation to determine how long and whether it is worth it. Not some suited character sitting in a swival chair.

Well considering that they under the influence of baby shrubs brainwashing and unpatriotic banter about patriotism and what that entails, they would be fine with continueing the illegal war in Iraq I am sure.

Hell, he made them believe that bin laden and saddam are the same man, he made them believe that the homeland of terror is Iraq, he made them believe that we are the great saviors from dictators in the world, he made them believe that we are the great democricizers of the world, he made them believe that terror is not a world wide problem and that all terrorists are arabic, he made them believe that a terror action against us by bin laden in Afgan is reason to illegally preemptively strike Iraq for bin laden, etc......

He can surely make them believe that a 100 year war is a worthy cause.

Only intelligent balsy people will be able to resist the brain ray of this mannoway huh

again Bush and Cheneye on trial for war crimes and crimes against humanity would go far in proveing that we made a mistake going in and give us some type of moral justifaction for rebuilding and reaching out to the neighboring countries in the middle east in this effort. if a Canada attacked america and claimed they wanted regime change and bush out what would we do? especialy 5 years after the fact and we were still occupied?

why is everyone so narrow minded.... think 3 steps ahead... oh yeah, most people that think just pulling out is the answer know nothing about strategies and tactics. Treat it like a game of chess that you REALLY dont want to get a "checkmate" in. When the leaders on the ground say its hopeless it is hopeless. Until then we need to prevent as much damage as possible. Clumbsy retreats have cost us and others, many, many lives in the past.

Soldiers are not the dumb robots you seem to think they are. They are taught to think as well as obey orders. As I posted in last post I know of one who has gone back on his own, not ordered back, because he feels that they do make a difference.
