Hi all,

The JustSayHi community has grown tremendously over the last four
months. We are very happy with the site and how the community has
grown. To help manage the community and make sure it is a fun and safe
place for everyone, we are thinking of appointing moderators.

Moderators would be given special abilities designed to keep things
pleasant for everyone. Some of the abilities a moderator would have
are:

- being able to move threads into a special moderator only area
- suspending a user's posting ability for a few days
- more visible/powerful REPORT ABUSE power

Moderators can be nominated by the community. Every so often, new
moderators will be chosen (perhaps every few months). We (Mike & I)
will make the choices of who becomes a moderator, but we will weigh the
community's views heavily in our decision making.

Moderators are not paid and it is totally voluntary.

We'd like to hear your opinions on moderators and if you would like to
nominate someone, you can do that here by messaging me directly.

Are we supposed to suggest who we think would be suited and then have
you and mike contact them to see if they would accept?
Or are you going to put up a poll for us to choose who we want to vote
in? Is there any way you could add a spell checker to this forum as well
as the abuility to edit our own posts atleast. I can't tell you how many
times I have posted with a typo and wanted to fix it before it was
noticed by all.

This post is to open the discussion about moderators and also get
nominees.

Spell check is possible and editing are both possible...

I hate the idea....frankly its corny....nobody wants to be at the mercy
of some stupid moderator, we,re not kids...and its insulting that you
made such an implication....!

I actually run a forum on one of my websites and I can tell you from
experience moderators are a great thing. They are not babysitters at
all. They are there to help keep the site running smoothly. Who knows
you might even end up a moderator. You not only post alot but you are on
the site all the time. If we would have had a moderator on the other
night we would not have had the issue to the level it went.

1st...... Define ebonics. Term unknown.


2nd...... If we're supposed todiscuss moderators here then why the
discussion on ebonics


3rd...... Iam4u as moderator. He already does his best to keep things
going smoothly.

Sorry Van, sent the e~mail, didn't want reasons and nominations public.

Moderators or Admin.'s as we call them on the game server's are a great
idea. I help run several gaming server's (most of them for children but
some for adults also). On the server for children we allow no cursing
and especailly no porn(Conter Strike allows you to spray tags or
picture's some of them can be very offensive and not good for children)
We police our younger audience's server's very dilligently and if it
were for admins then I dont think that it would go so well. We have a
set of rules ..the first time you break the rules you are warned and
reminded of the rules...the second time you are kicked for a short
period of time and the third time your are kciked for even longer. If
you still show absolute disreguard for the rules then you are banned
from the site. Of coarse on our adult server's were are quite a bit more
understanding....but still there are rules about cheating and being
disrespectfull that we enforce. I think that this is a wonderfull idea.
No moderator or admin should act alone ....his descision should be
backed up ny another moderator so that personalities dont weigh into the
judging of who gets reprimanded for acting against the rules. sorry for
such a long post but I have been thiking about this idea for a
whileBeing a moderator is a huge job and should not be taken lightly.
The moderator or admin's make the site....the are the people that
represent the rules of the site. Well thats my two cents.

Thanks for your input escaped... I agree with you. It's not about power
hungry users enforcing their own agendas... it's about good hearted
volunteers who are helping to keep the community pleasant for everyone.

i've been a forum admin before, shouldn't be an issue, even on here
there are rules that we all go by, well..most of us...

those that don't...need a good firm smack in the back of their heads lol

Ok ... i have several questions about the rules.....what are they....I
have no clue....sometimes i use uhmmm "adult" humor but i try to be
respectfull and not take it too far
What are your views on what should be allowed...what would constitute
an offense....or bad behavior?

i think its a great idea. and iam would make a great choice.hes honest
and well tempered.

not a bad idea i think , I am a very fair person and would like to help
if you need it.

GOOD IDEA

There aren't any specific rules (yet). The rules will probably be
around what we do (ie: a process before you get perm banned).

What we want is people to feel comfortable and enjoy posting in the
forums. If an individual's behavior is disturbing that state, they will
be warned and possibly banned.

Just don't be a jerk to other people.. it's pretty basic. Doesn't mean
you can't make mistakes here and there, we are all human and get
emotional sometimes. But if you are consistently just mean, you don't
belong here.

ya ,,its just say HI , not just be an ASS ! I have met some really great
people here , but I have seen some very nasty stuff to and some people
dont think before they verbally attack and it is not right that is for
sure . And some people need help not harm !!!!!;}
