Okay I'm all for the moderators , also I don't think it should be made
public who they are for that will cause alot of problems for the ones
that are here. Plus they must be real people. But my thoughts are that
Vanchau & Mike should pick the first ones and ask them if they would
like to that way they know who has and have not caused problems on the
post since they do look through the forums at times then when its time
for that person to step down and let someone else do it that person
could suggest 3-5 others that would be good to also be moderators.
Vanchau & Mike could pick from the ones suggested that way and not have
all this who picks who out in the open forums for it could cause
problems for some. I myself just don't think bringing votes in the post
would really be the best way to do that. Surely Vanchau & Mike have
already have thoughts who would be fair and who would not. Also the
Moderators should have a different profile not there own to sign into
when there is a problem which would state they are the moderators but
not who they are and it would be known to all what that profile would
say just my thoughts. With Vanchau & Mike knowing the pass words for
that profile that way if needed they can look at the e-mails that were
sent to them on problems if there comes a problem of how something was
handled Van & Mike would have access to check it all out.

Hey Txsgal.... why do you think the real identities of moderators should
not be known? I think moderators would want to be known so they can
provide help and assistance more easily.

moderators/admins that are known -- would get grief personally for some
decision made by them...nothing said ON the forum, just harrassed by
emails

moderators/admins that aren't known- grief would be given about site
admins, ON forum, instead of private emails

Well I just think they should have a profile that anyone could send
e-mails to about problems in the forums and deal with them on issues
outside of there own profile. Plus if there is a problem between a
moderator and another member there would not end up being a bunch of
bashing in e-mails toward the person that is a moderator. I have been
here awhile and have seen it happen both ways. It could cause some
problems for the member themselves. Just think they should be keep
seperate instead. With the profile saying just for hi moderator that way
when they are not own if there is a problem others could also e-mail
them and let them know what post it is in for them to read. They could
take care of the problem let the member know that there complaint has
been read and dealt with but not to go into details of what they did.

Also in the process Mike & You would have the chance if needed to go and
look to see what problems have been e-mailed to that moderator and if
they dealt with it and how by going to the post or there e-mails and see
how it took place most things would be better to be dealt with outside
of the forums just straight to the member that is causing the problem
keep it all out of the forums unless it was a help question then that
could be asked in a certain area as it is now.

I’ve only been here around a month but its long enough to get a good
idea how people think and deal with abrasive/confusing situations. To me
it’s obvious you want someone that’s stable, rational, intelligent,
tolerant and cut throat (when needed) and if you read over the heated
threads of the past they should break through the fog clear as day.
Additionally you want people that are here and make their presence known
(sorry, having 100 posts in 3 months isn’t someone that’s here and reads
the board enough); Following are my suggestions for a good mix of the
criteria I mentioned above:

Personally I don’t see any reason not to have a few Moderators since
you’ll get better coverage and besides if you pick one, and its Iam4u,
and he or she leaves for a month or so at a time you’ll have to reselect
or you’ll be uncovered at the moderator.
