Maybe they have become a necessary evil? just wondering? I think so... I think if you're going to be involved in internet dating, then you should have a current pic, and a webcam. I get irritated when people always want to see mine but they don't have one in return. It shouldn't be a one way thing. To many people try to hide and then it all comes out later. Most times I would have accepted someone anyway, it's the fact that they lied that pisses me off.

I think the cam can take the awkwardness out of the first meet. Both in the comfort of their own surroundings, a little more at ease to be themselves, and hey, if ya dont like each other, less stress on cam that in person to say so.

I would like to know what they look,sound get somewhat of a feeling by actions.If they have a manly voice I would stay clear

I get irritated when people always want to see mine but they don't have one in return. It shouldn't be a one way thing. To many people try to hide and then it all comes out later. Most times I would have accepted someone anyway, it's the fact that they lied that pisses me off. Me too jill - so what if you have a few extra lbs say so .. or you are losing your hair .. I have stretch marks form having babies .. No one is perfect and I don't expect them to be .. it is the imperfections in most folks that I love..

yep. if i was dating i'd have one and use it to get to know the other person a little better before going out...if they are likable i'd go out with them quickly after a couple of cups of web-coffee...

I am thinking it is a matter of survival if I am thinking of a date beyond web coffee...

I am thinking it is a matter of survival if I am thinking of a date beyond web coffee... I mainly use my webcam for my daughter and her distant family to actually "see" each other on a regular basis. Her grandparents in florida got to see her open her xmas gifts. That kind of thing...

Somewhat naive I suppose you could say. I never even gave webcams a second thought until I read this thread.

i think that with all the weirdos and posers out there it is an excellent idea to cam a few times before getting together. i think that is what jeep is driving at...

I agree with you all. I use mine to talk to friends in Costa Rica. But it's definately a tool I wiill use before meeting someone face to face..

Its just an easier and more comfortable way to get to know someone a little bit better before you are actually out with that person.
