A horse is a very beautiful animal, and it would make sense that you would have some very nice memories of him. Tell your son stories of him, and maybe he'll get interested in horses as well, and you'll have something to share. My mother used to tell me stories about her horse, and I love them, though I've never had a chance to own one myself.

Well this morning my folks called me to let me know my horse (Danny Boy) died. I guess he died last night....but, they didn't have the heart to tell me on Valentine's Day.

I didn't know he was sick, but I did know he was old. I had him since I was 5 years old!

He was a great horse to have, and I haven't seen them come any better! He was my "big dog"....he followed me everywhere, and came everytime I whistled.

I was looking forward to the day my son was old enough to ride him...but, I guess that can't happen now.

I LOVE my Danny Boy & I Miss him!!!!

 sad

 I'm sorry for your loss. Hope someone cheers you up. You're a sweetheart. Just know I am thinking about you and I hope you feel better. flowerforyou

I don't know you and I'm not generally a real emotional person, but it's obvious that you have suffered a great loss. Just know that I and the many others here who have responded are thinking about you and wish you the best.

Blessed are they who mourn: for they shall be comforted.

Aaaaaw Katie, I'm so sorry to hear this!

At times, when back on the farm, I felt that "Dipstick" (all white/black tail) knew me better
than friends or family. He was both. There is a reason why the term "horse sense" came to
be.

When I was ok, sometimes he would be aloof.....but when I was down he (without fail) would
rest his head on my shoulder. Losing him was like losing a part of my soul.

Eventually, it all became sweet (memories) and Dipstick will ALWAYS be with me!

Sorry to hear that I had horses for 17 years had the same two the whole time they are now both still together at a boys ranch but to loose one after that long is like loosing a child. My heart goes out to you. flowerforyou
