Topic: Why is it? | |

Why is it that theres a bunch of people who find smoking ciggerattes attractive. yet at the same time theres a bunch of others who wont even talk to a smoker? I know the health risks of smoking, seeing how i've smoked for 5 years, for both smokers and nonsmokers. smoking doesnt define a person... so why is there no happy median...
just wondering |

Well..I wouldnt date a smoker cuz first of all the 2nd hand stuff will kill you faster than puffing the things yourself..secondly I would not wanna be with someone who smoked for the fear of losing them to cancer..I've lost too many people to that as it is.

So you truly believe second smoke is worse than first hand smoke? Wow, I don't even know what to say. |

Personally I don't mind either way...but I find men (and women) who use chewing tobacco highly unattractive.
You've got to keep in mind (and this is coming from a fellow smoker lol) that it's not just the health factor, smoking causes very bad breath, bad teeth, etc etc. No one wants to kiss a smoker...as they say, it's like kissing an ash tray. It doesn't exactly taste good and therefore a turnoff. People who also smoke don't tend to care, as they too smoke...so therefore it doesn't make a big difference to them. I'm currently trying to quit, so hopefully one day I'll be able to say I'm no longer a smoker...but that's why there isn't much of a middle ground on it. Non-smokers find kissing smokers gross (just like I would find kissing a guy who chews tobacco gross) but most fellow smokers don't really care. |

My personal opinion on this matter would be a inevetable answer due to everyone elses opinions because for the fact it differs to others. As for myself I might consider dating a smoker but on the other hand i find it very unatractive..

Everybody has their own personal criteria for who they're willing to be involved with. Smoking is one of those factors that a lot of people use in order to make those determinations.
You'll see a lot of posts here from people with all kinds of different opinions about age differences in relationships, to give another example. Everybody has their own standards....and you're right, smoking doesn't define a person, any more than age or height or weight or race or a thousand other things do. But people do use all of these as parameters for choosing who they want in their lives. I've never smoked a cigarette in my life, but I've never had any problems with dating a smoker. In fact, I'm dating a smoker now. No big deal. But I won't have anything to do with a drinker. Different strokes, and all that. I wouldn't take it personally; it's just people prioritize differently. |

I couldn't date someone who smoked pot, one because I have bad reactions to it and 2 because I've been there - done that and I don't care what they say, that pot takes first priority above all else. |

Smoker non-smoker, what's the f*king difference? I don't smoke, but I don't care if someone I'm dating smokes or not.
Although, I would perfer them to be SMOKING hot. |

But, on the other hand...I get horrid cotton mouth, smoker's cough and a perpetual bad taste in my mouth which requires me to brush my teeth about 4 or 5 times a day and chew gum regularly to help control that. Would be nice to be able to breath, lose the smoker's cough and actually taste food for once. *lmao* |

I'll save a buttload of money by quitting, not to mention the things I listed above. The perks are just greater for me to quit than for me not to quit. Basically, I can't afford my addiction currently |

Of course I don't smoke in the house, cause I dislike what it does to the walls and electronics, but I figure I enjoy it so much, why quit? |

I am a smoker, And I would LOVE to quit, I try about once a month to quit.
Definately affects my dating options, alot of people are totally put off by it, and that I can understand. But with that said, I do think that smokers are often far more social people, I think that it stems from the highschool days when all the different clicks would meet for that smoke break outside and mingle, regaurdless of social status. |
