One woman I was recently dating actually said to me that I spend too much time with my daughter, and when I am not with my daughter I am working, which leaves little time for her and she was uspet about it. Needless to say I pretty much excused her that evening. Being a Single parent, involved in your child's life, a demanding career, and dating?...How do you truly balance that?

Honestly, this is the reason I choose to date men who have grown children. My schedule is hectic and my free time is limited. Planning around his children does leave little time for me. I feel spending time with children should be the #1 priority. Thus my decision...

I have had this same problem with dating.
The last guyi was dating actually said to me"you always have your kids! cant you send em to their dads"
This is after he knew my history with their dad with abuse and him not bothering with his kids.

I know how tough it is workin full time with 2 kids.

It becomes a choice, if thats what a woman desires or not at that point in the females life, maybe she didn t and didn t know how to say it.

Kids come first. If your date can't take it, they can tell their story walking. When I have dated a lady with kids, I tried to make sure all was good for them. Now I get my grandkid fix every thursday, when a friend has her grandkids.
I sometimes get referred to as grandpa. 15 month boy comes to me before grandma. We all think it is funny.

I have had men get offended when I tell them I prefer not to date men with children who are not grown. They can get quite nasty in fact. I would not have much respect for a man who did NOT put his children first but I also have the right to NOT put myself last.

I know how you feel, for the past nine years I have raised my children with no help since their father has passed on. My time out was rare, because babysitters are not cheap. I chose to date little, and have no regrets. The men I did date, either had to learn to deal with me being mom and dad, along with a package deal or more on. The choice I made isn't for everyone, so good luck in how you choose to handle things, and hopefully you will meet someone who accepts the fact that your a package deal.

Now that my youngest is graduating high school its time for me. Now the hard thing is remembering what it was like to do what I wanted to do, and not what needed doing.

as a single parent i respect you. i too raised my daughter on my own and found it difficult to date. but we as parents who love our children beyond life, do what we have to do, even if it means times of lonliness for ourselves. it is a shame that the woman felt that way. even now, when i date a man with children, when he puts them first, i find it actually a good quality in that man who does that. maybe because ive been there. hard to judge when you've never walked a mile in those shoes before. good for you darlin!

I think that she is a self centered person. In todays world kids need parenting more than possibly we did..(40ish people) I for the life of me can not imagine a person man or woman telling someone else that they spend too much time with their children... she either does not have any children or is the type of parent who lets the T.V. raise them. There are plenty of people in this world and on this site who honestly know what a committed parent is all about.
