Question(s) for the day.

You can answer just one or both if you wish.

What is your favorite inspirational song (include reason, if
you have one you would like to share).

Describe your mother's religious beliefs (if any) when you
were a child.

Peace be with you.

Hmmmm...favorite inspirational song...that is a hard one because I like a whole bunch and I can't usually creat a favorite...because I really do listen to most of my large list of favs equally. But I'd have to say "You Raise Me Up"...either Josh Groban or Celtic Woman version...though like any other version too. I listen to Celtic Woman version the most, sing along with it and just love it. IN Wyoming I loved playing and singing it while driving through the mountains. I just imagine God holding me, always supporting me, helping me be who I am meant to be. He's my friend and my guide. happy flowerforyou

I was baptized in a Presbyterian church just after birth...and raised in same religion but different choice. We didn't go as much to church when I was young but we are very involved in the church now. My dad was raised presbyterian and my mom 7th day adventist...she didn't stay that once she moved away...we respect her parents...and love them of course...but lol, she likes her steak and potato too much. (7th day adventist are vegetarians...well at least her grandparents were cuz of it, not a complete version, but mostly)

hmmmm so interesting question...thank you Britty

God Blessings to you all

Hi Tiffa, thanks for your responses, though I must add
there is only one version of You Raise Me Up"...Josh Groban
for me. I think it is a song that needs a powerful voice and
he has that.My fav guy. I have a thing for guys with dark
curly hair. I think it goes way back to when I was about 7
years old. I have been to two of his concerts, they were
awesome.

My dear friend took me both times.

I do like Celtic Woman too. I would like to see Chloe sing
with Josh one day. He did a nice duet with Charlotte Church a
few years ago, "The Prayer". For me that was the best version
I have heard, their voices blended so beautfully.

Have you heard the duet with Josh and Barbara Streisand? It is called "All I know of Love". Amazing.

Oh well, enough on that subject.

I have a bunch of favorite hymns as well as worship/
inspirational songs. But I do have one worship song that means a lot to me and that is "Be Magnified".

Have a good night.

Glad you enjoy it Kat, not sure I would want to think that
far ahead, but I get your point.

I liked the show that was aired on pbs a while back and they
had a guest Haley Westenera from New Zealand. She is a lovely
young lady and blended in with them very nicely.

Haley has one song "Who painted the moon black?" that I really
like.

Compassion

New Living Translation.

Isaiah 30:18 But the Lord still waits for you to come to him so he can show you Isaiah love and compassion. For the Lord Isaiah a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for him to help them.
Isaiah 49:13 Sing for joy, O heavens! Rejoice, O earth! Burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord has comforted Isaiah people and will have compassion on them in their sorrow.

Isaiah 63:15 Lord, look down from heaven and see us from your holy, glorious home. Where Isaiah the passion and the might you used to show on our behalf? Where are your mercy and compassion now?

Jeremiah 12:15 But afterward I will return and have compassion on all of them. I will bring them home to their own lands again, each nation to its own inheritance.

Lamentations 3:32 Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion according to the greatness of his unfailing love.

Hosea 11:8 "Oh, how can I give you up, Israel? How can I let you go? How can I destroy you like Admah and Zeboiim? My heart is torn within me, and my compassion overflows.

Matthew 14:14 A vast crowd was there as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

Mark 6:34 A vast crowd was there as he stepped from the boat, and he had compassion on them because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he taught them many things.

Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. "Don't cry!" he said.

Luke 15:20 "So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long distance away, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.

Philippians 1:8 God knows how much I love you and long for you with the tender compassion of Christ Jesus.

Have a compassion filled Sunday,
David

Search me, O God, and know my heart: test me and know my thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of
everlasting life. (Psalm 139:23-24).

How do you go about making a significant decision?

• Identify why this is a front-burner question now
• Consider whether you've weighed all options
• Write down and evaluate the pros and cons
• Check out budget, calendar, and commitments
• Determine if a specific scripture deals with it
• Ask if a general principle from Scripture applies
• Talk over motives and options with your partner, friends,
or family
• Discuss the issues with a mature believer
• Spend time praying about it
• If in doubt, wait for God to intervene

Good Morning All...

Thanks for the psalm Britty I needed that one. I am having a major family crisis and need prayer for my brother Scott.....He has fallen off the wagon and I now need to figure out what I am going to do. I want him in my friends Christian 12-step program but I can't force him, as he is an adult. So pray for me for wisdom, guidance, strength, and most of all following the path in which my Savior wants for both my brother and myself.

Also pray big time that the Lord opens his heart and really tries to work this program, and for him to open his eyes and see that Christ is the only way is going to truly beat this.

I Love you guys alot......and I can't even say how much strength I gather from each and everyone of you.

God Bless

ah Debs, that is hard especially when a family member or someone close. You can't fix things for them, but we can pray for them, so I shall for you and your brother.

I was discussing 'what if' questions with a dear friend yesterday but it bought up those kinds of issues.

The posts I made came from my reflections on those conversations.

Hi sharpshooter, good to see you in here.

I liked today's quote on my daily calendar:

You increase your sense of thankfulness and joy as you maintain
an attitude of humility.

Thomas Kinkade

I recollected the following passages which talk about humility.

Mat 23:12 (NRSV) All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.

1 Pet 5:5 (NRSV) In the same way, you who are younger must accept the authority of the elders. And all of you must clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble."

Psa 18:27 (NRSV) For you deliver a humble people, but the haughty eyes you bring down.

Eph 4:1-2 (NRSV) I therefore, the prisoner in the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, 2 with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,

Col 3:12 (NRSV) As God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

1 Pet 3:8 (NRSV) .... all of you, have unity of spirit, sympathy, love for one another, a tender heart, and a humble mind.

Debs - good to see you. flowerforyou

Have mercy on us, O Lord, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt —Psalm 123:3

What we must beware of is not damage to our belief in God but damage to our Christian disposition or state of mind. "Take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously" ( Malachi 2:16 ). Our state of mind can be the enemy that penetrates right into our soul and distracts our mind from God. Until we get back into a quiet mood before Him, our faith is of no value, and our confidence in the flesh and in human ingenuity is what rules our lives.

Beware of "the cares of this world . . ." ( Mark 4:19 ). They produce the wrong attitudes in our soul. Refuse to be swamped by "the cares of this world."

Colossians ch 2

8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Not Legalism but Christ

Col 2:16 So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths,

17 which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ.

20 Therefore,[e] if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations—

21 “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” 22 which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men?

23 These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh

Thank you for all your scripture Britty and I know I need to open my eyes and take heed. It is really hard especially when it comes to alcoholism.....I can't help him until he helps himself. All I can do is pray that the Lord opens his heart to receive, and that Scott let him in....It's just so hard......I just left where he was and told him...."well I can see that you have made your choice."......and he chose the alcohol and as hard as this is....I again have to just give it God and pray.

Thanks again everyone for your wonderful prayers and for being their for me.......

God Bless

Debbie
