Back in the day when beer was a lot cheaper a friend used to give the bartender a two dollar bill. When he got his change back he would say, "hey! I gave ya a twenty!". He claimed it sometimes worked.

Humm not according to this site. They stopped production making penny's..
http://home.treasury.gov/news/featured-stories/penny-production-cessation-faqs
Even in that link, they say stopped and Suspended...

Final U.S. penny minted as collectors seek rare coin value

Minting officially ends: The last U.S. penny was struck in November 2025, with production halted over costs exceeding face value.

Cash or collect: Experts urge exchanging pennies now as circulation tightens, or holding rare and final-year coins for potential future value.

Rare coins surge: Historic and error pennies, like 1943 copper or 1944 steel wheat, can sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I so need to start looking through all my pennies and get them separated.. Who knows I might be able to buy me a burger if they are worth a little hehehe

okay.. cool.. never heard of it before.. don't think I've ever seen one either.. isn't your $1 now defuncked? out of circulation? I know the $2 bill is.. I gots me a few of doze bigsmile
The $1 is still a big part of circulation...especially in the stripper bars...lol It is the one cent penny that they just stopped making, but it is still currency and usable. I do not know why the media made a big deal about it, there are so many out in circulation now that they really do not need to make more. The $2 bill is still being made also, but it is like the $1 coins...most people don't like using them.

Dang ! you guys are lucky...$1 at the stripper bars....hmmm Here we cannot use $1 as its a heavy coin (loonie), cant use $2 note as that also became a coin(toonie) strippers have no where to put coins, as far as I can see, well yeah that may not be safe ...so lucky stripper get the $5 note! I think the Govt . is in cahoots with the strippers ...
On a side note : have'nt seen a penney in years ...all prices are rounded of to the nearest penny...
