Had my first eye surgery yesterday on my left eye I feel like a one eye monster

I will admit this is weird for sure..Nothing like walking around with one eye shut so I can see.. I swear since they told me not to bend over I have dropped more chit than I ever have..

Good thing I kept my grabber from my knee surgery's cause it has come in handy..

I went to my eye Dr today for her to check the results, and was told I could take the patch off today, but have strict instructions to wear it when I sleep. So I don't rub my eye in my sleep so it can heal..

So far everything is still hazy looking out my left eye but better than it was yesterday.. Hopefully by tomorrow the hazy part will clear up.

well folks.. another week over and Friday coming to an end..

so I got an estimation on the price to fix my car.. *Zee hits the floor* yup.. the price of a newer one.. HOLY CHIT the transmission is gone.. so that's that.. only 105,000 km on that girl but.. her legs gave out.. and me just spent over $700 for 4 new winter tires.. so I've spent the afternoon and evening looking for a replacement.. an SUV that'll take my new tires cuz I ain't wasting THAT $$.. plus I'll have my mechanic syphon my gas.. not letting a full tank go to waste EITHER so.. this weekend will be making calls and trying to find a lift to go see newER vehicles.. FML.. thought she had a few more years in her but.. not at THAT price..

anywho.. gonna go cry in my pillow so have a good evening y'all

Morning all~~ Yea I woke up about 4:30am too much sleep the last few days since I can't go anywhere and do much.. Nothing to do at the house except some laundry cause I did everything prior.. Ohh well lazy days ...

Man that sucks about your car I was so hoping it was not that..Not sure how but at times things seems to work themselves out... But it sure makes things rough when things like this happen... Sending good wishes/prayers your way...

Humm well my vision is still hazy this morning seems a bit better. Just not there yet, they did tell me it could take up to a week. Sure hope it clears before I get my right eye fixed..

Only 105 on the clock...thats a virgin... I would just spend the cash for a new transmission and keep the car for a few more years ....or till u run it into the ground.... In total that replacement should only cost about 3 grand ......cheaper than a newer car .....also depends on make and model and the year???

she's a 2006 Pacifica.. so age is a factor.. but after doing research on the problem.. it sounds more like electrical instead of transmission.. seluloid.. apparently it's RARELY the trany so.. I sent him an article by email and will talk to him on monday.. something feels off about his diagnosis tho.. gut feeling but working perfectly tuesday then wednesday morning stuck in park? and why I did research.. I spent hours pouring over different articles too.. they all point to the same thing so.. we shall see on Monday.. I appreciate the suggestion tho.. he was pretty firm about his pricing tho.. labor = $2000 and repair = $3000 lofty yes but she IS a 2006 so parts cud be more expensive.. we shall see.. my gut is churning tho when I think trany.. but I have to wait for monday..

anywho.. current temps are friggen awesome at 66F.. high of 73F (but'll feel like 77F) mainly sunny today with rain starting overnight.. can't do any of my current projects outside cuz I ain't got any wheels ta go get supplies and not sure I have enough gas ta mow the freakin lawn.. I hate being put in this position.. ya'd think the garage wud have a loaner but NOOOOOOOOO and the store is 6km away so not hoofin it.. don't have a bike either.. my ride on mower might make it but I don't believe I have the gas ta get there let alone come back with *sighs*

seriously a 2006....with 105 0n the clock./....wow that is what I would call " rarely driven by Lady , only to do grocery shopping and driven carefully, no speeding "..... a car with that mileage is worth between 4 and 6 grand , depending on the overall condition .....And lasts well over 300, 000 KMs....so I would get a second opinion .......

yup.. after I talk to him on Monday IF he sticks to the trany being the issue.. I'll have CAA tow it to another garage for a 2nd opinion.. already thought of that.. his whole opinion to me seems off.. gut feeling its NOT trany related but if it is? hey okay.. but I will get a 2nd opinion before ditching that car.. and you're right.. I rarely drive it.. don't need to.. got everything I need here.. local trips are maybe once a month and grocery trips ARE once a month.. I'm busy with home renos so make a list of everything I need and do only 1 trip when possible.. hey.. gas is expensive yanno

I feel for all those that have suffered losses.. I know all too well how life can bite you in the arse at times..

you can have our rain for a week if ya want it.. I'll see what I can do to send it your way..

Did the dude tell you exactly what the problem is?

Do you trust this guy?

Shops here charge 100/hr or more. Don't know what that works out to Canadian. So he's charging you for 15 or 20 hrs to R&R the trans plus another 3K for a repair or a rebuilt or used trans. Sounds dicey to me. If it's just a solenoid he should be able to just drop the pan and modulator and fit a new one for around 1K or so.

Check the net for cost of rebuilt trans in your area.

Did the car shift and run smoothly before?

Mo.. yes, it did.. the day before.. no issues.. ran smoothly without any troubles.. parked several times while stopping and starting the car.. then got home and parked.. emptied the car.. restarted and moved it.. parked and shut it down for the night.. following morning it was stuck in park.. started okay.. I've had a problem with a brake light on the passenger side tho.. doesn't work.. apparently that cud be an issue per my research..

do I trust him? thought I did but my gut is telling me this might be out of his experience wheelhouse.. he's only 35ish..(IF that) the tow guy was pretty sure it was electrical not trany..I know cuz I asked him.. he really didn't think it would cost much to fix tho.. my research says electrical not trany.. then I got the call from my mechanic on Friday just before lunch telling me it was 'bad news'.. it felt off tho.. I can't explain it I just feel it's BS.. I don't have money for a $5k + fix.. and frustration & panic caused me to cry on the call with him.. he said he'd try something and get back to me but I haven't heard from him since.. he's also closed weekends

if he sticks to his trany bs.. I'll have it towed to another garage for a 2nd opinion..

the only thing he said was it was the transmission.. I don't recall any other details..

last I saw he charges $75/hr for labor.. and is usually pretty decent with his fees.. charges 15 mins if he only worked 15 mins, never steered me wrong.. but now I'm questioning his integrity.. plus I'm without a car.. so yeah.. feels dicey to me too

oh and.. the entire transmission was changed to new in 2015.. 2 months before I bought it.. and another reason I'm questioning his 'bad news'..

the Tow guy started the car, removed the face plate of the shifter and played in there for a moment.. then got out and checked under the hood.. then got back in and tried the shift again.. didn't work.. that's when he said he didn't think it was trany related, only electrical and that it shouldn't cost much..


anywho.. my head is spinning with all this and my stomach is churning with anxiety.. and I still have 36 hrs ta go before I can get some insight.. but I do appreciate your input and support Mo..
