In the hustle and bustle of modern life, taking care of your mental health is paramount. The demands of work, relationships, and various responsibilities can often leave us feeling drained and overwhelmed.

This is where self-care comes into play – a practice that involves intentional actions to nurture your mental, emotional, and physical well being.

One way I practice self care is daily prayer. What are some of the ways you practice self-care?

I just go for long walks, the solitude of a forest can be so beautiful. Or just listen to some nice tunes and cuddle with my cats.

Working for a year now as a Social Worker in a home for kids with autism. It's a great job, but challenging sometimes. So avoiding people is my way of self care.

Daily prayers is the best I guess, I say mine at night and give Thanks to God  for everything He has blessed me with, both positive and negative...

Aside from that I like video gaming, which takes me away from the stress and reality for a couple of hours every now and again...

Maybe having an active social life would help too, but unfortunately there seems to be a social life drought on right now (and the last few years) :joy:

Cook nourishing meals.
Workout. (Non-negotiable)
Spend time outside.
Read before bed.
Doing something fun.
Attending fundraisers and meeting people.
Making sure I get a good night sleep.
Spend time meditating and talking to the Universe of Love and Light.

I like that you said "non- negotiable" self discipline is also self care.

The biggest thing I changed for self care was setting boundaries and telling people "no". It was also the hardest. I naturally want to serve and care for people.

Self-care is important, especially for women to keep their hormonal balance right.

Many women tend to please, give more than they get, often not receive anything or unable to let it in.
If you feel it's natural for you to serve and please you're hormones are almost for certain out of whack.

The only healthy way of giving for a woman is in response to receiving.
If you haven't and still give you will produce testosterone which will A) lower your oestrogen (very unhealthy!!) and B) deplete your progesterone as a woman makes testosterone out of progesterone.
Then you get oestrogen domination even though your oestrogen is too low.

Too low levels of oestrogen is a serious health risk: inflammation (heart, joints etc.), diabetes, high cholesterol, cardiovascular disease, and so on.
It also wreaks havoc on your mood and how you feel.

In essence saying it's natural to give, serve, please, etc. isn't true. It's caused by hormones and that disruption can be created by low self-esteem, lack of self-love and so on.
The only natural care giving is to a baby (young) child. Which btw is also hormone-driven...

Self-care is good, can help raise oestrogen.
Self-care is also receiving. Love, gifts, compliments, help from others, and so on.
