Marriage is the strong proof for love

Plus it cuts down on sin and bastard children

Mind me asking, did you live in Ireland, or are you Irish? indifferent I heard this so many times ...

I'm actually Polish, born and live in Texas. As for my comment, I didn't know I was quoting anyone, just came up with it on my own believe it or not.
I kinda find it sad what is deemed ok or optional for decent behavior. Crap like be gay or not, shack up or not. Question should be how ashamed I should be of myself for even thinking this way. No fear of God or judgement and downright disrespectful.

I am German, but living in Ireland since 2004. It is a strange country sometimes. Gay marriage came into law by referendum (I voted for it myself), but on the other side, kids being born out of wedlock are still seen as the potential Antichrist slaphead

Yep, gay marriage was legalised here too, and a good thing for sure!
People should be free to choose and everyone has the right to be happy.
That's what god wants too. The Divine is not what came up with this god-fearing crap nor with church's rules & restrictions.
That's the doing of men (=man).
Thank goodness the power of church has gone for the most part. It's unbelievable that people still adhere to an institute that is responsible for killing millions -likely billions- for no reason whatsoever. And that hasn't stopped yet, just a different church.

Doubt anyone here knows what the church is or what religion is or what's gonna kill who or why.

If you have had a Christian Religious upbringing, Leviticus chapter 18 verse 22, seems clear enough. However, I agree there should be no laws against it as there once was until recent history here in the UK. To each their own beliefs.

Marriage is worth it if two people are commited to make it work..it's never easy..it takes acceptance of each others shortcomings and open communications..and a commitment to be faithful, honest and loyal no matter what..

Good God, all these politically correct answers. I guess I'll have to be the one to address the elephant in the room since nobody else has:

With the laws in the USA severely slanted to punish a man in divorce both financially AND in regards to custody of children, the answer is NO, marriage is not worth the risk for a man but YES the "risk" is worth it for a woman.

Just one generalized example: A man divorces and loses half of all he amassed in his lifetime (including a pension). Then he ALSO loses custody of his children. Then he ALSO, depending on the state, has to pay his wife "spousal support" because she is now used to her elevated lifestyle and God forbid she has to go back to how it was before she met the man.

A woman cheats/divorces and she gets PAID! Yeah, that's SOME risk, huh?

P.S...Before you mention the VERY few examples of women paying for the men after divorce, that's so rare it's not worth mentioning.

The laws are slowly changing to be gender neutral but will always penalize the more productive one of a marriage and reward the unproductive one. With our social welfare system, it is to the benefit of the state to make sure the unproductive one has some level of support or resources so that the state doesn't have to support them.

Marriage is not proof of love. That is how it is sold to women. Marriage is a legal term. It has to do with business. It is a poor decision. Proof of love is somebody treating you with the same love that they give themself.

I used to think it was a great thing until I learnt the hard way what they mean when they say “marriage is not easy”. These 4 words are never to be underestimated. Men have their pride and egos which take over the relationship the moment someone pronounces you husband and wife. Extreme rules are put in place and as the wife you have to obediently submit. Stop talking to all your childhood friends, dress like a wife, change your hairstyle, stop liking what you like because you are now a wife and the list goes on. Failure to do so attracts a very hurtful set of insults and lectures which go on for hours and hours. In case there is no time for a lecture the wife shall be given silent treatment for at least 2 or 3 days before the 2-3hour long lecture.

In short, marriage is a trap. Only for those women with strong minds otherwise it is a recipe for serious mental degradation.

I don't know about married men taking over the relationship?

A good friend once told me that his wife spent there complete married life changing him, and when they came to divorce, she told him that he wasn't the man she married!
