Code Orange for icy roads. Sander truck just drove by, first time as far as I know.
We had rain earlier, and with frost and frozen ground it's bound to be slippery. And it is just below 0C again.

2C sunny! YAY, light, hihi. Barely any wind.
Warning as it can be slippery on parts of roads where wet. I'm not going anywhere by car, but when going for a walk the same thing can go of course.

A few more days of frost, Monday it should be over, for now at least.

Well, I found out that the warning does not just goes for the roads, but also pavements.
I should've known...

... most of the country because it is treacherously slippery due to black ice on the roads.

I slipped on the pavement right in front of my own home, and a split second later had a close encounter with the paving tiles.
Hurt myself a bit, but thank goodness no broken anything. Pulled a muscle in my left groin/hip area, my knees a bit sore, and hurt my left wrist. All in all, not too bad, I was very lucky!

Couldn't see a damn thing of it being slippery, the pavement looked a tad wet, that's all. Damned black ice!

I’m glad you didn’t hurt yourself too badly Crystal as it could have been worse. Our roads and pavements were also treacherous yesterday due to black ice. My car skidded on a side road and my car immediately flashed warnings on the dash. First time I’d ever seen that haha. Thankfully today it’s not so bad as the sun has melted most of it.

Thank you! I'd thought the sun had melted it away too :/ Sun had been out all day. Really caught me out.
Thank goodness you are okay too! It's scare the bejesus out of me if my car would slip! Had that a little bit with aquaplaning once or twice. Scary as hell to have no control and no grip, brrr.

Indeed it could've been much worse. I do have a lot of aching muscles, hihi, but they will heal.
Bummer is I need to get to the supermarket, 2 things only. No way am I going to cycle as the forecast is still the same "treacherously slippery and possible black ice". Car is not an option either.
I'm thinking of walking. I just remembered my mum once gave me these rubbery things to put over your shoes with 2 rows of spikes underneath.
Never used them, they're always in the way, but I figured they'd be handy now. I managed to get them over my boots.
I will give it a whirl, but I'll stay clear from pavements. I'm going for the streets as that has been sanded.
I spread salt on the pavement in front of my own front yard & path so that should be safe.

One more day. From Monday onwards temps will go well above 0, at night too. So I'm guesstimating by Tuesday/Wednesday the soil should be okay again, no more black ice and shizzel!
I rather deal with snow than black ice. At least you can see that, and when walking on fresh snow you still have grip.

1C sunny :)

Should get to 2C but right now, 11 o'clock, still below 0.
Overcast, maybe a little sun in the afternoon, then back to clouds.
Showers expected in the evening causing black ice & icy roads, so...
Code Orange for icy roads.

I think this has been the coldest night so far. 2 duvets was barely enough last night, bedroom was freezing cold!

Thank goodness this is the last day & 1 more night of frost for now. Fed up with it.

Amazing, right?!
It's similar here, from -1C now to 9C tomorrow.
I guess a lot of people are going to get sick again, which usually happens when there's a big change in weather.

I'm hoping the frost will be out of the ground by Wednesday so at least we get mobility back and no more black ice / slippery roads.

Since it started raining a few hours ago it's extremely slippery and they asking people to not go out if you don't have to.

Apparently there's a lot of traffic on the roads regardless and people are driving (too ) fast. As such, we've had quite a lot of accidents already.

Code Orange is still in place, at least until 11 after which is should get less.

My son lives at the square right in the (shopping) centre of town. He's seen a great number of people fall right in front of his home.
Someone fell, another went to him/her to help, and fell himself. My son has fallen when leaving work. I was afraid of that and he's at risk since he's already has a plate and screws in his wrist after an accident.
You never stop worrying about your children, do you!

For now, I can't get clear from the Dutch MET if it's okay or not. I'd imagine the ground is still frozen but there are no warnings anymore.
