Sun indeed came through a lot, with occasional cloudy moments. When she shines it's stinking hot, total melt-down.
Back into shorts & T-shirt and I just got the fan going.

Currently some darker clouds drifting in, but we shouldn't get rain...

So that’s where the sun has gone hehe .

It’s been a bright, showery and very windy day here so far. I was looking at the forecast for the coming week and it’s to be more of the same.

Still haven’t took the covers off my patio furniture yet sad2

That sux, Delightful!

We're getting warmer weather again next week. 24C, 27C etc.
No idea how long this is going to last, can't count on anything anymore these days when it comes to weather, haha. So I'm enjoying every bit of summer we do get!
Certainly after the crap spring season we had, with exception of a brief summery & sunny period in March.
Secretly keeping my fingers crossed we'll get more summer throughout July & August, hopefully longer!
And hope you will get your fair share there too!
I thought July was usually best period in Scotland? So maybe you're getting your summer then!

I hope so too Crystal. Summer has been a bit of a wash out so far this year. Put it this way, things can’t get any worse so nothing else to do but on the bright side and hope next month the weather will start to improve.

Had not checked forecast and apparently we could get thunder.
Boy did we get thunder just now, and still not done! Right over the village, which hardly ever happens.
It had started to rain a bit, which I noticed too late. Nila was still outdoors so I was about to call her in as I need to close the door when it rains to protect the floor. And then out of the blue the thunder started.
I saw Nila run for safety, poor thing!!
I went out to try and get her, but I guess she was too scared and daren't come out from hiding.
Then, as I was back indoors, a bang SO loud I nearly jumped out of my skin shocked Poor Nila...
Some 5 mins later in between thunder she came running to the sliding door, in total panic.
Her first experience with thunder, while outdoors at that. Poor thing was so scared!

22C overcast, rain, thunder. We had some sun earlier.

Holy crap, while we had this awful thunder the other side of the island -13 kms from here- had a large whirlwind!
Roofs ripped off, roof tiles gone and severe damage, trees uplifted, smaller trees flying through the air as well as everything else that could be blown up.
People got hurt, number still unknown.

First responders are going to have a helluva lot of work!

Thank you, me is happy too! Suddenly the bad thunder doesn't seem so bad anymore.

Apparently the mini-tornado went diagonally over the island, it was first spotted a few kms from here, then moved to that town and hit part of it full on.

Chimneys blown of roofs, I just saw the roofs of 4 adjacent houses -guesstimate some 20m total- lying sloped against one house, the rest in the street like a flimsy sheet... unbelievable! The houses on the opposite side of the street seem undamaged...

One house has partly collapsed, some roofs collapsed. Uprooted trees, not just a few, but an entire street covered with broken / uprooted trees :o
People are advised to not go outdoors as many many rooftiles are still lose on the roofs and many roofs are so heavily damaged anything can fall down.

Two minutes and the lives of many people are in turmoil and millions of Euros of damage.
Good thing we have solid brick houses, but still...

It’s so scary. I was caught in a tornado in Budapest back in 2006 and it’s not something I’d like to experience again. I saw roof tiles fly of the roofs, thousands of people running and not knowing where to run to, scores of people falling and others trampling over them in their haste to seek some shelter. I found a window with metal rails and hung on for dear life to it. The wind was so strong it was ripping my clothes off me. Trees also came down and you couldn’t hear the wind because people were screaming so loudly. That day 3 people died and I thought I would too. Yet, my mum, who was living on the outskirts of Budapest at the time knew nothing about the tornado until I told her!

Your post brought back a lot of horrible memories for me. It was 4 yrs before I could go out on a windy day without feeling anxious.

Google tornado Budapest August 20 2006 if you’re interested.

OMG that must've been awful! I can understand you have memories come up, so sorry!! flowerforyou
I wouldn't know what to do either to be honest.

A number of people's homes have been declared uninhabitable... with the current lack of rentals or affordable houses for sale...
There's a hotel near me that has offered it's vacant rooms for such people for free.

Anywho, all this, watching vids etc, did affect me, so I can understand it does something to you for sure, having been in one!

I’m okay with wind now but it took a long time to get over my fear.

At the time, I was there for a month visiting my mum who was living there (she spent 6 months of the year there and the other 6 months here in UK). My brother was due to arrive for a holiday the night of the tornado; in fact his flight was due 15 mins after the tornado started but 2 days before he was due his flight was cancelled by the airline. I really think the angels were looking out for him.

I feel really bad for all those who were affected today. Hopefully those people will get to find accommodation soon. It’s amazing how quickly life can turn upside down and all because of freak weather. Just so glad you didn’t get to experience that

Watched a clip on that on YT... that started out of the blue?! Holy cow. Rain drops like needles, people being trampled...
If you were surprised by that storm and caught in the middle of the mayhem I can understand even more that it took you a long time to get over it.
All the people screaming etc...
It literally seems to come out of nowhere in that short clip.

Some events cause a form of PTSD. I have that with something entirely different: staircases. Because I fell down one and had my life in ruins after that, and still having to deal with a lot of trouble.
Took me quite some time to get over fear of going up & down stairs. And sometimes it still gets me.

In any case, glad you and your family were all okay! The angels must've been watching over you indeed.
