Topic: Blessed Samhain & Happy Halloween! | |

The day of Samhain, the Celtic new year, has arrived!!
At this time the veils between our world and Spirit world are thin so it's a good time to tune in, do ritual / energy work, meditate, and to feel and intuit. It is the time a year where we honour our ancestors and the ones that made their transition. Apart from that, it's also a good time to think about all you've done and achieved over the year, what to let go of now, what to take with you into the New Year! And it is also the last harvest festival. Last edible things, but also slaughter to have and store meat so people had enough food to enter the dark and cold period. This can be taken metaphorically too of course! I've made an altar this year with photos of my grandparents, my dad's tobacco tin, crystals, Jack O'Lantern, and my Elen of the Way statue so she can show the right path into the new. I don't celebrate Halloween anymore. It's not a Dutch tradition and not big in this village. Whatever you celebrate, enjoy it! Blessed Samhain, happy Halloween |

A Blessed Samhain to you, Crystal!
As you know, I'm in Kazakhstan, and about 20 minutes ago a girl (about 10) rang my doorbell. She started talking to me in Russian, and when I said, "Sorry, only English" she said, "Trick-or-treat" in English. She was dressed like a Christmas Elf. I thought it was the cutest thing. I happened to have a bunch of Halloween candy that I had bought for my class and the other teachers. So I gave her a big handful of stuff and she was so excited. That just made my day. |

To the ancient Celts, Samhain was night of terror. They lived in fear that evil spirits would harm them.
Whenever they wanted to leave their homes, they disguised themselves in order to trick the evil spirits into believing that the Celts were also evil spirits. That is origin of wearing costumes on Halloween. Druids also kept bonfires burning in order to drive away the evil spirits. |

You are one of a kind! We are not doing Halloween this year , as kids safety comes first .. but I am sure there will be kids out on the streets as usual ... happy Halloween |

Happy to see you all pitch in! And hoping you're having a good day/evening too!
It all feels a bit weird to me today as last night we went back to winter time. I'm fine really, but it always is weird when your sense of time is off. I did suddenly feel like using my shaman drum, so I went upstairs to get it and I played a bit while focusing on what I'd really want in the new year! Funny thing is, both cat Bailey & kitten Nila were sleeping. Nila went in hiding in a corner next to the settee whereas Bailey didn't even look up. He's happily snoring away still, haha. But he's more experienced, lol. He is of course older but he also grew up in the time that I was doing a helluva lot of ritual work, hihi. Nevertheless I wasn't too loud lest Nila wouldn't get all upset. But I enjoyed it!! It'd been too long since I last played :) My drum with a lantern behind it. The odd shape in the middle is the wooden handle (ivy branch). |
