The Northern Hemisphere is starting Summer.
Most schools are either finished for the Summer or about to.
A new batch of high school graduates are stepping into adulthood.
For many workers, vacation time is upon us.

For me, Summer is brutal. I can't really take the heat and humidity much anymore.
Pandemic restrictions have lifted significantly (in my area) and I've noticed the beaches have started filling up with people again.
My lil town is slightly dependent on tourism and have used this pandemic to beef up attractions and build some new beach venues. The nightclubs, restaurants and hotels are already filling up. Drive down to the harbor at night and the place is packed with people.

Does anyone have plans to do something they've put off for years but since the pandemic now want to "go for it".
Anyone planning a road trip or camping/fishing trip?

Do companies still have company picnics and team building excursions?
I imagine with the pandemic and business interruptions, working at home and high number of lay-offs, a lot of companies might want to do some team building and family mingling this summer. You're probably already starting to see some new faces at work.

Anyone planning a big family reunion this summer? Anyone holding it at someplace significant?

I know there's still a lot of people trying to climb back out of that hole the pandemic put us in. It can be tough to get 'flush'.
With that in mind, anyone planning any low-cost adventures this summer?
You know like, local sight seeing daytrips, family picnics, festivals and fairs. Anyone (USA) planning to attend official fireworks displays on the 4th?

I have my kids and grandkids coming in July for a visit. I'm pretty excited to see them. I'll have 7 people visiting mid July (2 adults and 5 grandchildren) and at the end of July, 6 people (2 adults and 4 grandchildren) Plus my gf and my local son's family (2 adults and 2 grandchildren). My lil two bedroom is going to be a hectic, crazy place. Luckily some of the kids will be sleeping outside and at their uncles place. But, I'm still gunna love it.
Sadly my daughter can't make it this year. (I hope she's not pulling my leg, that would be another 5 more people in my lil 2 bedroom, lol)

No matter what you will do this summer, be safe and share the love with those who love you.

No plans. Not even thinking about going to Scotland anymore at the mo with all the travel restrictions. Maybe next year it is possible.
I believe currently I could go to the UK, provided I do a test and it's good. But if memory serves I'd have to go into quarantine for 2 weeks first. Not my idea of a holiday.

So I will holiday-ing at home again.

 I don’t do well in the heat either, but luckily being close to the coast here in Wales it doesn’t get too bad.

I have no plans to go anywhere as I only moved a few months before the pandemic, and I couldn’t even go anywhere last year to buy nice plants for the garden. So this year I’ve gone all out with the planting and I intend to sit in the garden on my wooden swing seat and enjoy the colours as the flowers bloom.

It’s a worry as lockdown is easing here in the UK because of this new Indian strain of covid, and people just seem to be ignoring social distancing. Fingers crossed 🀞 cases will not start to rise significantly.

Hopefully my family will come visit as I can’t wait to take my grandsons to the beach or to explore the local castle.

And as Tom said, I hope all my fellow Minglers have a wonderful summer no matter what they are doing but don’t forget to stay safe.

I will hopefully fly over to Germany to see my parents in late July. Didn't see them since January 2020

Here in England we find out on the 14th June if all restrictions will be lifted on the 21st June, they are waiting to see how the rate of infections go, whether they start to increase rapidly again or stay steady at where they are now. I have a week booked in July in a small holiday apartment on the East Coast of England, to visit friends living in a holiday town by the sea. I cancelled last year hopefully I will make it this year, I have now had 2 jabs of the AZ vaccine and I will still follow the guidelines. Happy Holidays, and stay safe wherever you go.

It's always great to see family again, and also to be in your home country. You will likely be fine!!

The US has 4th of July with fireworks, parades and festivals.
I'm wondering if y'all have any significant holidays which fall during the summer too?
Are any of you planning to attend any of those festivities, even local ones?
Will you be holding any pool parties or get togethers at or near home which you had to put off because of the restrictions?

On Memorial Day, my son called me from the river. They had a picnic and did some swimming & fishing. He said it was kinda crowded but everyone seemed to get along with each other. He said it was strange how people were friendlier and less 'stranger wary' than before the restrictions.

Do any of you think (once your restrictions are lifted) you might be less 'stranger wary' than before? I'm talking at gatherings where families are present.

Summer is also time for local races and tractor pulls. I saw a sign for June 10 my town is hosting their annual Chili cook-off at the Rotary Club. They couldn't do it last year. I wonder if the church will be doing the Crabfest this year? Plus we have the Crawfish Festival coming up soon.
Dang, I really need to check the calendar of events.
I do know they resumed the Jeep festival for June.
After having to cancel its 2020 event, Jeepin' the Coast is planning a jam-packed four-day event for June 2021. Sunday, the 2021 Jeepin' the Coast schedule was announced on its Facebook page and a couple new events are featured in this year's line-up of Jeep events.

Oh wow! its this weekend!
http://jeepinthecoast.com/

There's also a Clydesdale Budweiser Horse parade this weekend.
The Budweiser Clydesdales are scheduled to return for a parade in Bay St. Louis next Friday, June 4.

These two events happen walking distance from my house. My gf loves horses so I told her we will go to the parade and then go to their trailers so she can see them up close again. We went 2 years ago and she got to pet the horses and talk to their handlers.
When my kids were little I would take them to Grant's Farm in St Louis and we would tour their barn and the tour guide let the kids feed them hay sometimes. I have lots of family pictures of Grant's Farm.

Does anybody have anything like that happening near you which you might attend?

Any open air concerts?
Mud-bogging & mud races?
Hill climbs, buggy races, boat races?
(Hey, waddayawant, I was a mechanic all my life...)

Salmon River Days in early July. Mini concerts. Parade. Fireworks. Street venders. Boat races. Outdoor pancake breakfast. I usually attend every year.

No parades, festivals, concerts etc. here. Nothing that draws a crowd as you have to stick to distancing of 1,5 meters.

Sport schools are still not allowed open.
Restaurants finally are as of today, but with limited amount indoors and with social distancing.

So we can do a bit more as of today, finally, but nothing like parades or festivals.
We don't have national days anymore anyways, these are end April and beginning of May.
NOrmally we do of course have festivals. Maybe the ones in late summer can happen but I doubt the ones during June & July.

Road trips this summer. The National Parks will have to wait until crowds are gone though. Hopefully get to watch my grandsons do their rodeo bull riding.

I used to do lots of roadtrips.
Sometimes just driving with no destination in mind.
My body won't let me do that anymore and I miss it a lil.
I once drove from Norfolk to South Carolina for a cheeseburger and milk shake, then turned around and went back home.

I've also had family picnics at some really strange places.
One time, when the kids were little, I found this old over-grown trail and set up the grill, had the radio playing and we were playing Frisbee waiting for the burgers to cook. Then, from deep in the woods a car came down the trail.
Turns out, I chose to have a picnic in someone's driveway.
They were cool about it but my family still talk about it.
Dad's not 'allowed' to pick the picnic spots anymore, LOL.

I love to work outside when it is very hot -even better if I have a little pool to cool off in... but Texas got just way too humid. sweating doesn't cool you down if it doesn't evaporate.

Hoping to earn some good money and do some gardening.

Started my van project when they first started talking stimulus -got it mechanically sound -hoping to get it looking good.
