Topic: Your eyebrows | |
---|---|
These days working on your eyebrows is highly fashionable. You can buy these special powders and shapers and whatnot, whereas in the past it was mostly plucking.
I never did much concerning my eyebrows in the past. I was lucky to have beautifully shaped natural eyebrows. But then, as I got a li'l older, they weren't so full anymore and the hairs are a paler shade (not grey). Then, if I use a brown pencil on 'em I suddenly look a helluva lot different, and better. It makes your face speak, it opens up your face. I look more like 'me' again, hihi. But some shape them so much and solidly you can tell it's not natural. I don't like that. I've had a manager, pretty gal in her 20s, with tattooed eyebrows. horrible in capitals!! Funny how eyebrows make such a difference in how we look! How bout you? Do you groom, shape, pluck, and/or colour your eyebrows? Also a question for men as often the masculine's eyebrows get out of hand when they get a li'l older. Do you groom them? |

The last couple years I've gone to my hairdresser to have her groom them. I'd have to leave my glasses on in order to see well enough up close, which doesn't work that good, haha. Nothing fancy, just basic plucking (waxing, actually) and a little trimming.

like you Crystal, as I’ve got older mine have gone a bit thinner so I use what looks like an eyebrow mascara, and it just thickens them up and makes them all the same colour

I would have no eyebrows left if I had followed all the fads
growing up..fortunately I did not so I still have to pluck away regularly. Now my nieces, who are the height of fashion, have these wormy-looking eyebrows, all the rage, but huge and dark, so I am working that angle just now, kinda like it. Trick is finding just the right eyebrow pencil color, not there yet ;-) |

Unfortunately I don't have much left lol. My brother shaved them off when we were young. And they were always crazy but they are mine.

I have a little hair trimmer for nose and ear, but it has attachments for eyebrows. I use that, because I don't like the scraggly hairs. I don't notice much of a difference except that I look a touch more civilized, but I think that's because I know I groom myself. I don't think others notice or care to. It has nothing to do with masculinity or anything. It's more about self respect. You have to have enough respect for yourself to take care of yourself and properly groom yourself. |

lol just looked at mine for the first time in about 30 years. I think they are the least of my concerns. Maybe you're one of the lucky few that don't need to do anything :) Often though hairs grow longer, and fuller, and the space between the two closes hihi. That kind of stuff. |

Nothing fancy, just basic plucking (waxing, actually) and a little trimming. Yes, with glasses on it's impossible! And if there's plucking / waxing to be done, just as easy if another does it. I have to admit I hate the plucking, hihi. I still have to pluck a little bit, not much thank goodness. |

And mine also lighter in colour while they used to be a bit darker than my own hair (which is light brown). |

I trim mine once a week. I am odd I like a man that looks after himself! Better to do that once a week than to end up with one eyebrow or long hairs that stick out :) |

Trick is finding just the right eyebrow pencil color, not there yet ;-) I have thought of buying myself a set with a shaper and that special powder. Not done so yet. The colour I have sussed, it's creating the right shape that I find tricky, hihi. That's why a shaper would come in handy. It is rather nice isn't it?! I gives more expression to your face. My girlie has very light ones and she makes them darker too. I had to get used to it at first, but it looks better to be honest. |

Yes, exactly, self respect and taking care of yourself! The shape and state of eyebrows do make a lot of difference. If you see someone with barely any eyebrows or none or tattooed ones, you almost end up staring at them to wonder what the heck is wrong with 'em. However unimportant they seem, they somehow are like a finishing touch, hihi. |

I trim mine once a week. I am odd I like a man that looks after himself! Better to do that once a week than to end up with one eyebrow or long hairs that stick out :) I need more time for grooming than a woman, I guess |

I used to tell my ex that he needed more time than me to get groomed, dressed and ready to go out. |

I use a trimmer to trim facial hair, including side-burns, top of my ears & eyebrows. Don't really have a problem with wayward nose hairs.
I have a scar on one eyebrow and used to be very self conscious about it. Would color it in with a black ink pen if I were doing a class or presentation or going out. Not anymore. I have considered getting a yellow star tattooed there (twinkle in my eye), LOL. I never could figure out why some men went for the uni-brow look? I also can't figure out why some older men allow their nose hair to become bushes? If I didn't trim the top of my ears I would resemble a fox (it can get pretty long). I also keep my lips clear of hair, I don't like hair in my food when I eat. When I wear a full beard, I have to keep it clean and brushed. I think food in a beard is disgusting. I once had a box of "Just For Men" facial hair coloring for 4 years till I threw away the unopened box. I just couldn't bring myself to actually do it. |
